Every week at Lexis, we welcome new students from around the world, each with their own goals. What brings them together is their shared desire to improve their English and create unforgettable memories in Australia. Today, we’re excited to share the journey of Amandine, Caspar, and Marla at Lexis Sydney – Manly!
These three students met for the first time on campus and quickly formed a strong friendship. Throughout their time at Lexis, they spent their afternoons together, exploring Sydney, soaking up the sun, and making the most of the beautiful beaches! After completing their courses, they set off together on an unforgettable trip to Queensland, Australia, organised by our travel partner Dundee Adventures. Amandine, Caspar & Marla were also homestay students, living with wonderful Australian families while studying with us at Lexis, adding to their incredible experience.
Their story is a testament to the incredible friendships, growth, and adventures that await every student at Lexis Sydney – Manly!
Why did you chose Lexis Sydney – Manly?
Amandine (20), Caspar (19), and Marla (19) joined Lexis Sydney – Manly with a shared goal, to embark on an unforgettable adventure before returning to university at home. While Amandine spent three months immersing herself in the Lexis experience, Caspar and Marla made the most of their five-week stay – but regardless of the time spent, their journey was nothing short of incredible. These three students shared more with us on why they first wanted to study at our campus, here in Sydney:
Amandine & Caspar: “We chose this school because Sydney is one of Australia’s most iconic cities. With the beach right next to the campus and easy access to the city, we knew this would be the perfect place for us.”
Marla: “I really wanted to improve my English, and having the beach right across the road was the perfect bonus! After class, we could head straight to the beach to relax and swim.”
What has been one of your greatest memories while being a student here?
Amandine, Caspar, and Marla had an unforgettable time studying at Lexis Sydney – Manly, where they not only improved their English but also made lifelong friendships and created incredible memories. From joining our weekly social activities to exploring Sydney on the weekends, their time here was full of fun, laughter, and adventure. We sat down with them to chat about their favourite moments – both at Lexis and beyond!
Amandine: “I loved painting the tote bags with Caspar & Marla, and all of the BBQ’s! I also recently did the famous Blue Mountains Trip with Caspar which was awesome!”
Caspar: “I loved doing all the afternoon activities at the school. Some of my favourites were the City Tour, Pub Crawl, & Manly walks. I also really enjoyed going to the beach, especially as it was Summer during my time here. I got to go surfing & swim all the time!”
Marla: “I enjoyed anything where I was hanging out with Caspar & Amandine. In particular our most recent trip to Queensland and in Sydney going to the beach together.”
Where did you recently go on your travels?
After completing their studies at Lexis Manly, Amandine, Caspar, and Marla were ready for their next big adventure. Wanting to explore more of Australia together, they booked an unforgettable trip to Queensland through our trusted travel partner, Dundee Adventures. The trio explored some dream, destination spots in Australia including Brisbane, K’Gari Island, & Noosa.
From cityscapes to pristine islands and coastal charm, Amandine, Caspar, and Marla experienced some of the best that Queensland has to offer. Their trip was not just about sightseeing, it was about making memories, deepening friendships, and embracing the adventure of life!
What made your homestay experience enjoyable?
Amandine, Caspar & Marla were also homestay students during their time here, living with wonderful Australian families while studying with us. We asked them more about their homestay experience and what made it special:
Amandine: “My hostmother was the best. My home was in a perfect location, not too far from the school so was easy to get the bus to & from Manly. The home and my room were comfortable & cozy, and I had nice host sisters who I became close to as well.”
Caspar: “I had lovely host parents that made me feel very welcome to their home and also to Sydney. I had an unforgettable time there and couldn’t wish for a better host mother. Everyone in the family was nice and helpful at all times and there was always enough to eat. I really recommend doing homestay!”
Marla: “My host sisters made my homestay experience so special. Since we were all studying at Lexis together, we bonded quickly, helping each other with homework, practicing English at home, and sharing moments about our experiences in class and at the school.”
What do you planned next after your time at Lexis?
Amandine, Caspar & Marla have recently finished their studies with us, so we wanted to know what their plans are after their time at our campus and in Sydney. In addition to their exciting Queensland adventure, Amandine has some more exciting plans on the horizon:
Amandine: “After the trip with Caspar & Marla I will be travelling more, and going on a solo backpacking adventure to explore more of the East Coast. After my travels, I will go home to Switzerland and start studying Midwifery and also start working again.”
Caspar & Marla: “We will head home to Germany to our different cities, and also start studying our degrees at University. Marla is still deciding on what she will study but is thinking about doing Tourism & Caspar will be studying Business.”
What would you to say to students thinking about studying here?
These three students recently finished up their studies at Lexis, so they took a moment to reflect on their experience and share some advice for anyone considering studying here:
Caspar: “Do it, you won’t regret it! You’ll never feel alone at Lexis. From day one, you’re part of a big family. Everyone is in the same situation, away from home, trying to improve their English, so it is easy to make new friends.”
Amandine & Marla: “The teachers, and the staff are lovely – everyone at Lexis is amazing! You will have a beautiful view of the beach everyday, and you can go swimming or surfing before or after class, it’s perfect.”
