Learn English at Lexis Perth 2026: A Vibrant Mix of Sport and Creative Activities

One of the best ways to learn English at Lexis Perth is by taking part in activities that bring students together outside the classroom. While lessons help build grammar and vocabulary, real confidence often develops when students use English in relaxed and social situations.

Recently, our students enjoyed two popular activities: energetic sports and a creative “Crafternoon” session making postcards. Both activities were fully booked, showing just how much students enjoy combining language learning with fun experiences.

Indoor Soccer: Teamwork and Communication

The afternoon began with a friendly indoor soccer session. Students from different classes came together to form teams, stretching, warming up and getting ready for the game. Soccer is a universal language, and many students already love the sport. However, playing in an English-speaking environment adds an extra layer of learning. On the field, students naturally practise quick and practical communication.

The matches were full of excitement, laughter and a few impressive goals. Even students who didn’t play joined in by cheering from the sidelines and encouraging their teammates.

Sports activities like indoor soccer also help students build friendships across different nationalities and language levels. By working together as a team, they learn how to communicate clearly and support each other.

Basketball And Indoor Soccer 1

Basketball Among the City Towers

Another activity done by students this week was at the unique basketball court located at Brookfield Place. Surrounded by tall city buildings and the busy energy of the Perth CBD, the court offers a very different atmosphere from a typical sports ground.

Playing basketball between the modern high-rise towers felt like a true city experience. Students practised dribbling, shooting and passing while enjoying the vibrant urban setting around them.

The game quickly became competitive in the best possible way, with students forming teams and trying to score as many baskets as possible.

As with soccer, the court was filled with English phrases and encouragement. Sports provide a natural environment for communication. Students practise listening and speaking quickly while reacting to the action of the game. At the same time, they build confidence and strengthen friendships with classmates.

Many students commented on how unusual and exciting it was to play basketball in the middle of the city, surrounded by Perth’s impressive skyline.

Crafternoon Postcards2026

Creative Time at Crafternoon

Another popular activity at Lexis Perth is our regular “Crafternoon” session which was completely full, with students excited to take part in a relaxing creative workshop.

During this session, students designed and created their own postcards. With colourful pens, markers and decorative materials, they produced unique cards inspired by their experiences and relationships in Perth.

Making postcards might sound simple, but it offers many opportunities for language learning. Students practised vocabulary related to travel, places and personal experiences while discussing their designs with classmates.

Teachers encouraged students to describe their artwork using English phrases such as:

  • “This is my favourite place in Perth.”

  • “I drew this because it reminds me of the beach.”

  • “I want to send this postcard to my family.”

These small conversations help students practise expressing ideas and telling stories in English.

Learning English Beyond the Classroom

Activities like indoor soccer, basketball and creative workshops show how varied the experience of learning English can be. Students are not only studying vocabulary and grammar but also applying their language skills in real situations.

Sports help develop teamwork, quick communication and confidence. Creative activities like postcard making encourage expression, storytelling and sharing personal experiences.

Just as importantly, these events allow students to relax and enjoy their time in Perth. They meet new friends, discover different cultures and create memories that will stay with them long after their studies are finished.

A Full Schedule of Fun

With both the sports session and the Crafternoon activity fully booked, it’s clear that students appreciate opportunities to connect, move and create together.

For many students these moments become some of the most memorable parts of their experience. Whether they are scoring a goal, shooting a basketball between city skyscrapers, or designing a colourful postcard, they are practising English in a natural and meaningful way.

At Lexis Perth, learning continues far beyond the classroom walls and every activity is another chance to communicate, explore and grow in confidence.

Thank you to everyone who joined these exciting activities!
