Lexis Brisbane; Badminton, South Bank Swimming, Baking and Late Night Friday Footy.
At Lexis Brisbane, we’ve been focusing on creating fun, memorable, and truly enjoyable experiences. From baking cakes with friends, playing football under the sun, taking a refreshing swim at South Bank, to cheering on the Brisbane Broncos, every activity has been a wonderful opportunity to make lifelong memories while studying English. It’s been a truly unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience!
This month, our students have truly been thriving! Not only are they participating in a wide range of activities, but we can also see their confidence growing every day. Suleyman (Left) from Turkey, for example. When he first arrived at Lexis, he had little knowledge of English and felt unsure about speaking. After 12 weeks, he has made incredible progress, levelling up from Elementary to Pre-Intermediate and confidently holding well-rounded conversations. Suleyman has made the most of his time here, and we can’t wait to see where his English journey takes him next!
Badminton and Pickleball at Brisbane Indoor Sports Arena
On Wednesday afternoon, we made our way to Brisbane City Indoor Sports. With it only being a short train ride away, this was the perfect place to spend our afternoon activity. The sports arena offered many different sports for us to try. Pickleball, Badminton, Beach Volleyball and more. All equipment supplied! This was an amazing opportunity for everyone to try a different sport, or, if they have played before, to get their bodies moving and teach their friends.
A competitive game of Pickleball was had between Gabriel, Gensei, Lissi and Kaitlyn. There were screams and yelling about whether the ball went out. The arena was full of laughter. This was such an enjoyable, fun afternoon. Everyone had an absolute blast.
South Bank Sun and Swims
A heatwave hit Brisbane this week, so we took advantage of the 32-degree weather and went for a swim. We brought a ball and played volleyball, which turned out to be a great way to meet new people. We made friends with an Australian from Dubbo who joined us for a game and plenty of laughs. We spent the afternoon hanging out, sharing stories, and exchanging travel advice. We also met more international students and travellers who are in Australia for the first time. It was a truly memorable Thursday afternoon.
Mug Cake
For our Friday afternoon activity, we baked mug cakes—something new and fun for everyone. Each of us brought our own coffee mug and followed the recipe step by step. We then popped our cake mixtures into the microwave and were soon greeted with delicious vanilla sprinkle mug cakes. It was a simple yet enjoyable activity that everyone loved!
Thank you to everyone who joined our Activities this week!
