This week our TAP students discovered the amazing nature of NSW, exotic meat, hidden talents and more!
The Teenage Activity Program offers a mix of English lessons, sightseeing and sporting activities to ensure a fun and effective way of improving language skills.
Take a look at this week’s adventures of our TAP students Anna, Haruto, Hiroyuki, Honoka, Joe, Maya, Sakine , Sarasa M., Sarasa O., Sota and Yuriko:
MONDAY
Time to discover the Sydney Harbour including the most adventurous pizza of our student’s life! Starting off at circular quay the TAP students soon discovered Sydney’s oldest colonial area, the Rocks, and a very special lunch menu at the Australian Heritage Hotel. Our curios students couldn’t resist and were brave enough to try crocodile- and kangaroo pizza!
Anna (17): “I was a bit scared to try but it tasted great! I would be happy to have another one.”
TUESDAY
After learning how to surf the famous waves of Manly Beach last week, our TAP students were introduced to Stand Up Paddle Boarding this week. Not only did everyone quickly learn how to stand up on a SUP but they also got to play a game of water polo on their boards together – a few unplanned dips in the ocean included.
WEDNESDAY
Let’s go shopping! Our TAP students were looking for souvenirs and gifts today. What better place for it than a mall the size of 18 soccer fields, holding over 350 shops? The shopping trip to Warringah Mall gave our students the chance to apply their language skills in real life situations, leaving each student with confidence and pride.
Joe (14) on his shopping trip: “I had so much fun at the mall, it was the biggest shopping centre I have ever seen. I practised my English and felt very happy about my new language skills.”
THURSDAY
After studying hard in their morning classes all week the TAP students gave the classroom a break today and headed out on an exciting adventure. A private tour bus took our 11 students out to the Blue Mountains, home to over 455 different animal species and older than the Grand Canyon. The group discovered the iconic scenery, rugged sandstone, waterfalls and lookouts.
“I have never seen anything like the blue mountains before, it was really impressive and I took a lot of photos with my new friends”, Sakine (16).
FRIDAY
Anna (17), Haruto (16), Hiroyuki (14), Honoka (17), Joe (14), Maya (16), Sakine (16), Sarasa M. (16), Sarasa O. (16), Sota (14) and Yuriko (14) successfully graduated from Lexis Manly. We are proud of the progress each student has made and loved watching our students taking on every activity with joy and curiosity.
To celebrate the last day of their TAP program the group and teachers enjoyed the afternoon on the beach together – an afternoon filled with laughter, volleyball and good conversations.
We wish you all the best for your future!
The next intake for TAP Sydney will be July – August 2023.
