Yesterday we welcomed new General English and Cambridge students from Switzerland, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Spain, Uruguay, Chile, Japan and Thailand.
The General English new starters included Natascha, Felipe, Jai, Laura, Mariel, Vipaporn, Michael, and Saida.

Natasha is from a small mountainous town in Switzerland. Natasha studied and worked as an Optician in Switzerland. A major reason for her studying English at Lexis is to improve her English before undertaking a university degree in Optometrics. From childhood Natasha dreamed of visiting Australia and for this reason chose to study English in Byron Bay. Her interests include spending time with her pets (two dogs and two cats), playing volleyball, reading and listening to music.
Felipe has travelled from Santiago, Chile to join us. Felipe is a Statistical Engineer at the University of Santiago and works with a top-tier company that is dedicated to mining cooper in Chile. It is an imperative for him to learn English for work. He chosen to study in Byron Bay for the beaches and beautiful people. He is also a sports enthusiast, specifically soccer, but he has a knee injury limiting his ability to play.
Jia-Ying (Gladys) joins us from Taiwan. Gladys likes gardening, growing plants from seed and has successfully grown apple and cherry plants. She decided to come to Australia to learn English and plans to go to university in Australia.
Laura kept hearing great things about Australia and ultimately decided to study English in beautiful Byron Bay. Before coming to Australia, Laura completed her apprenticeship in hotel-communication at a hotel. While at Lexis she hopes to improve her English, make friends from around the world, find her passion and plan for the future accordingly.
Mariel comes from Uruguay. In Uruguay, Mariel teaches Physical Education and endeavours to work with children 2-12 years old. She enjoys walking, yoga, handball, meditation and soccer. Her goals at Lexis are to learn English, take part in Australian culture and make new friends. Her long-term goal is to be a fluent English speaker.
Vipaporn (Gibb) is from Thailand. She wanted to come to Australia sooner but was prohibited because of the pandemic restrictions. In Thailand, Gibb worked as a Graphic Designer specifically on animations and video. She is excited to study English, surf and experience the Australian culture. She has already noticed the kind-nature of Byron Bay locals and the cooler weather.
Michael joins us from Lucerne, Switzerland. During winter Michael is a Ski Teacher and in summer he will start teaching at a primary school. He also intends to travel around South America next year. He is excited to learn English at Lexis Byron Bay with other students from around the world.
Saida (Sai) joins us from Spain. In Spain, Sai worked as a Nurse and lived a comfortable life. However, she wanted a new challenge and decided to come to Australia with her cousin to learn English and travel the country. In addition, Sai wants to spend time surfing and reading books. After travel, Saida hopes to settle in a big house close to the beach with her boyfriend and future sons.
We also had two new Cambridge classes start yesterday, we will introduce our new Cambridge students later but for now here is a picture of our excited new Cambridge starters.
