Surfing the Waves of Education: An Unforgettable Surf Lesson at Manly Beach!
Welcome to an extraordinary learning experience at Lexis Manly, where we believe education extends beyond the classroom walls. In our continuous pursuit of providing enriching activities for our students, today at Lexis Manly, 20 of our awesome students embarked on an exhilarating surf lesson with our friends at Manly Surf School. Lexis Manly is located just across the road from beautiful Manly Beach, which is where our students had their surf lesson today. It was a hot, summers day of 30 degrees, so perfect weather to jump into the water and catch some waves!
Lexis Manly is situated in the coastal paradise of Manly Beach, offering the perfect backdrop for our surf lesson today. The rhythmic sound of crashing waves, the salty ocean breeze, and the golden sands created an ideal environment for our students to connect with nature and delve into untapped aspects of their capabilities.
Learning Surfing 101:
To ensure a safe and educational experience, we enlisted the expertise of professional surf instructors at Manly Surf School, who not only have a deep passion for the sport but also share our commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Their enthusiasm and encouragement set the stage for an empowering experience for our students.
Before hitting the waves, our students engaged in a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of surfing. From understanding how to stand on a surfboard to learning essential safety protocols, our budding surfers gained a solid foundation that prepared them for the challenges that awaited them in the open water.
Building Confidence:
One of the most remarkable aspects of the surf lesson was witnessing the transformation of our students’ confidence. Many began the day with trepidation, but as they embraced the waves and persisted through the initial challenges, a newfound sense of self-assurance emerged. Overcoming fear and stepping out of comfort zones became powerful lessons in resilience and personal growth.
For some of our students, this surf lesson was their first encounter with the Australian ocean and their first time at surfing. However, they did such an amazing job out in the water today and almost all of them got to stand up on their surfboards. This surf lesson provided a valuable opportunity for our students to step out of their comfort zones, face their fears, and embrace new challenges. Whether it was overcoming the initial fear of the open sea or conquering the challenge of standing on the board, every success on the waves translated into newfound confidence and resilience.
Teamwork & Collaboration:
Surfing is not just an individual endeavor; it is a collaborative effort that relies on communication and support. Our students discovered the importance of working together as they cheered each other on, offering encouragement, and celebrating each other’s successful rides. These lessons in collaboration and camaraderie will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their interpersonal skills. Our students encouraging one another was wonderful to see, this teamwork will extend far beyond the waves today and into their daily lives, fostering a sense of community at our campus.

Beyond the thrill of surfing, this experience provided an opportunity for our students to connect with nature in a profound way. Surfing is a sport that demands a deep connection with nature, and today our students learned to read the ocean, respect its power, and appreciate the beauty of nature. This heightened awareness of the environment not only deepens their understanding of the world but also instills a sense of responsibility towards preserving our natural treasures.
