Lolly-Pong Fun at Lexis English Sunshine Coast!
Last Friday, 25th October, our Sunshine Coast campus was buzzing with excitement as we introduced students to a brand-new Activity that put a sweet spin on an old classic—our Lolly-Pong Tournament! Imagine beer pong, but with a fun, sugary twist: lollies instead of beer! Students from different backgrounds gathered to try their hand at this uniquely Aussie take on the classic party game, making new friends, bonding over a shared love of treats, and bringing some seriously competitive energy to the table.
The rules of Lolly-Pong? Simple and fun! Just like beer pong, two teams lined up on either side of the table with six cups arranged in a triangle. Instead of a drink, each cup contained a different Aussie lolly or snack, waiting to be claimed. Players took turns tossing a ping-pong ball across the table, aiming for their opponents’ cups. If they scored and the ball landed in a cup, they won the treat inside! The stakes were high (after all, a Tim Tam was on the line!), and with every successful shot, the triumphant player earned a piece of sugary glory.
Our room was soon echoing with laughter, cheers, and playful trash talk as students got into the competitive spirit. It didn’t take long for everyone to get into the game’s rhythm, cheering on their teammates and laughing with their “opponents” over every near miss and big win. The room was full of energy as friends shared tips, celebrated every lolly-earned victory, and even pulled off some creative trick shots to impress the crowd. For many students, it was a fantastic chance to relax and unwind after a busy week of classes and practice their English in a lively, friendly setting.
What made the game even more exciting was the array of Australian treats hiding inside each cup. Students got their first taste of some iconic Aussie snacks—Shapes (crackers), and the beloved chocolate-covered Tim Tams. Every new snack was a mini cultural experience, and students laughed as they compared flavors and decided on their favorites.
Alongside the treats, we set the mood with music that got everyone in the spirit. With upbeat tunes playing, students got a taste of an Aussie afternoon social scene, making the event feel just like a summer get-together. Friends from different countries exchanged stories, learned about each other’s favorite snacks back home, and bonded over shared moments of sweet success—and a few misses! It was the perfect mix of playfulness, laughter, and Aussie culture that made the event a special one for everyone involved.
The Lolly-Pong activity wasn’t just about fun and games; it was also a fantastic opportunity for students to build friendships and immerse themselves in a little more of Australia’s fun-loving culture. For some, this was a first taste of the laid-back, friendly atmosphere Australia is known for, and it made them feel even more at home here at Lexis.
By the end of the afternoon, everyone left with big smiles, new friends, and maybe a few extra lollies in their pockets. Our Lolly-Pong activity was a big hit, and it set the stage for more exciting activities coming up at Lexis Sunshine Coast. For those who missed out, don’t worry—this is only the beginning!
