Celebrating Friendship at Lexis Noosa

International Friendship Day is celebrated to honour the bond of friendship and the role it plays in promoting peace and understanding worldwide. The United Nations officially recognises July 30th as International Friendship Day, though the date can vary in different countries.

In the spirit of this day, a workshop was organised, bringing together friends old and new to celebrate. The workshop was centered around two activities: making bracelets and creating an Acts of Kindness Jar.

The first activity of the day was crafting bracelets, a timeless symbol of enduring bonds. Students were provided with an array of vibrant beads and craft thread.

Laughter and conversations filled the room as students paired up to help each other, sharing stories and learning new patterns. From candy stripes to intricate chevrons, each bracelet was a unique creation, representing the individuality of each friendship. As the bracelets took shape, so did the connections between students, reinforcing the day’s theme.

The second part of the workshop focused on fostering kindness and positivity. Each student was given some colourful paper slips. The task was to write down acts of kindness on these slips—simple gestures that could brighten someone’s day. Suggestions ranged from “give a compliment” to “buy a friend a coffee”.

As the jars filled with these heartfelt notes, the room buzzed with a sense of purpose. Students shared their ideas and discussed how these small acts could make a big difference in people’s days. The Acts of Kindness Jar was not just a craft but a commitment to spreading goodwill beyond the workshop.

The workshop was a reminder of the power of human connection and the impact of small, thoughtful actions. As students left with their handmade bracelets and a kindness jar filled to the brim with beautiful notes, they carried with them a renewed sense of friendship and a pledge to continue spreading kindness.

International Friendship Day is a wonderful opportunity to cherish and celebrate the friendships that enrich our lives. This workshop not only brought people together but also inspired a community spirit of kindness and compassion. Whether through a colourful bracelet or a simple act of kindness, every effort contributes to a more connected and caring world.
