Lexis English Brisbane Explores Kangaroo Point
At Lexis English Brisbane, learning English is not just about textbooks and grammar—it’s about living the language, exploring new places, and making unforgettable memories. On Tuesday, 30 April, we took our students on a relaxing yet exciting afternoon adventure to one of Brisbane’s most iconic locations—Kangaroo Point. With coffee in hand, a beautiful riverside view ahead, and friendly conversations all around, it was the perfect way to connect, practise English, and soak in the best of what the city has to offer.
⛴️ Cruising the River on the CityCat Ferry
Our journey began with another favourite Brisbane experience—the CityCat ferry. For many students, this has become a familiar and much-loved part of our weekly adventures. As we boarded and found our seats, the mood was light, the sun was shining, and excitement bubbled in the air. For some, this was their second or third time riding the CityCat, but the thrill of gliding down the Brisbane River, past skyscrapers, bridges, and green parks, never gets old. The ferry is not just a means of transportation—it’s a classroom with a view. Along the way, students pointed out landmarks, shared stories from their home countries, and used their English in fun, relaxed conversations. Language learning doesn’t get much better than this.
☕ Coffee Breaks and Great Conversations
Once we arrived at Kangaroo Point, the group took a leisurely stroll along the river, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the spectacular view of Brisbane’s city skyline. We soon reached a cosy riverside café, where students ordered their favourite drinks—lattes, cappuccinos, iced coffees, and even a few hot chocolates. It wasn’t just about the coffee, though. It was about the company. As everyone sat together, sipping their drinks and sharing laughs, new friendships formed and familiar ones grew stronger. Our students chatted about their week, their countries, their classes—and all of it in English. These informal settings provide the perfect opportunity for learners to use their language skills in real-world situations while feeling supported and relaxed.
A View Worth the Walk
After our coffee break, we continued exploring the area. Kangaroo Point Cliffs offered a stunning backdrop for selfies, group photos, and quiet moments of reflection. The view of the city from across the river is one of the best in Brisbane, and many students were in awe, capturing memories on their phones while simply enjoying the moment. It’s in these peaceful, scenic corners of the city that students often feel most connected to their new home in Australia. A few adventurous students even climbed a nearby set of stairs to get a better view—laughing and cheering each other on. It truly was an afternoon filled with laughter, exploration, and friendship.
Making the Most of Student Life in Brisbane
At Lexis English, we believe the best way to learn is to live the language. That’s why we organise regular excursions and social activities that allow our students to step outside the classroom and experience English in action. Whether it’s sharing a joke on a ferry, ordering coffee in a café, or describing the view to a friend, every moment is a chance to practise, improve, and build confidence. More importantly, these outings help our students feel at home. Being far from family and friends can be challenging, but at Lexis, we strive to create a supportive community where everyone belongs.
