Lexis Students Take on Queen Street Mall & City Markets!
A Rainy Adventure at Queen Street Mall
On a wet and wonderful April afternoon (9th), the rain certainly didn’t wash away our spirit of adventure! Our amazing Lexis English Brisbane students gathered with umbrellas in hand and big smiles on their faces, ready to take part in a Scavenger Hunt like no other.
With Queen Street Mall as our playground, students split into two energetic teams and set off on a photo challenge that tested both their creativity and teamwork. The goal? Find and capture the most unique and quirky items across the mall—including the biggest neon sign, stylish window displays, iconic Brisbane spots, and even a photo with a stranger!
The rain may have soaked the sidewalks, but it only added to the excitement. Everyone sprinted from store to store, laughing, posing, and encouraging one another to go big and bold with their scavenger snapshots. After all that running around, the reward was totally worth it—a stash of Aussie snacks that both teams shared together back at the lounge. The real prize, though, was the joy on everyone’s faces and the new friendships made along the way.
Discovering Brisbane City Markets
Just a week later, on 09 April, we were back out and about—this time under sunny skies and ready for another urban adventure: a visit to the Brisbane City Markets at Reddacliff Place. Over 30 students joined us as we stepped into the heart of the city to explore the colourful stalls and local treasures.
The markets were alive with activity—local vendors, fresh produce, handmade crafts, sweet treats, and unique souvenirs filled the plaza. It was the perfect opportunity for our students to practice their English negotiation skills, learn new vocabulary in a real-world setting, and interact with friendly local sellers.
It was especially great to watch students confidently approach vendors, ask questions, and make purchases—all while soaking in the lively Brisbane city vibe. Some found special gifts for their families back home, others treated themselves to a delicious snack or cool new item. Everyone left with a little something, whether it was a tote bag, fresh juice, or just the memory of a perfect afternoon.
