Say Hi to Meghan Jarvis, our Intermediate Class teacher at GV Perth~!
Meghan (‘Meg’ to her friends) is a bubbly, friendly Canadian who has been soaking up the Australian sun for about six months now. She originally came to Australia to play semi-professional basketball, and also works as a fitness instructor and manager at a local bar. Her favourite sports team are the Toronto Raptors, and her favourite cocktail to drink when chilling on the beach is a Mojito~!
When I asked her what she enjoyed the most about being an ESL teacher, she said:
“I love being an ESL Teacher because I love words and languages. Teaching also keeps me in touch with an incredibly broad group of people, whom I would probably not get the chance to meet in another job. Most importantly however, I love the feeling of making a difference in a student’s ability to communicate and understand a foreign language.”
Meghan’s plans for the future are to travel the world teaching ESL for a few more years and then head back home to Canada. But for now we’re happy that she has settled down in sunny Perth for a while and hope that she will be staying with us for some time yet to come… 🙂
