This week, we welcome three students: Thais and Livia from Brazil and Maria from Spain.

Maria was originally planning to come to Lexis Byron Bay in 2020, but then COVID got in the way. She is very happy to have finally made it. She comes from Barcelona where she worked as a graphic designer and vegan cook, and in the future hopes to open her own restaurant. She said it’s important to learn English for travel and just to make life easier in general and she’s happy to be studying in Australia because she thinks that if she can master the Australian accent she can master any English from all over the world.
Livia was working in Sao Paulo as as shop assistant while studying Marketing before coming to Byron. She said she needs English to get a good job in the future and she chose Australia because the climate and lifestyle are similar to Brazil. She wants to improve all her English skills but particularly speaking, which is what she finds most difficult.
It’s Thais‘s second time in Australia. She last came six years ago to visit her sister, who lives in nearby Woollongbar. In Brazil, she works as a ballet teacher but also has her own fashion brand of macramé items that she sells online. She finds writing the easiest English skill but hopes to improve all skills during her 24 week enrolment.
