Tell us a little about yourself Biel:
My name is Biel and I’m from Spain. Before I came to Byron Bay I was studying at highschool and after I finished I decided to come here. I decided to come here to improve my English because in Spain I was really bad! I will stay here 10 months. I will learn English for my future because I think about my future job, and also for travel because it is really important to me.
Why did you choose Byron Bay?
I chose Byron Bay because I heard it had similar conditions to my town. Life is amazing here. You can speak with lots of people, and I find the people really kind. There are so many beautiful places in Byron – you should definitely do your research! The level of life here is relaxed, and there is no stress.
What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia? Tell me more about your teachers and your classes.
I found speaking hard before I came here to Austalia because I didn’t have to speak. Even though I learnt English at school, I was still around Spanish speakers. That is why it has been good to have the Enlish Only policy, because it makes you speak in English only and learn.
My teachers here are really nice. They always try to help me improve.
What was your favourite activity?
Any thing with food or coffee! I like the ones where you cook and get to enjoy together and laugh and then you get to eat it! 🍕
Tell me about your accommodation/homestay…
I stayed in the accommodation for 2 weeks when I first arrived before I moved into a house in Byron Bay short term. I am back at the accommodation now and I really enjoy it! My English is better now, I have more friends and can talk with everyone.
What are your favourite things to do in Byron?
I have gone scuba diving three times! It is the best thing and I love going to Julian Rocks. It is a beautiful life under the sea. It is different to the Mediterranean, what I am used to. Here, this is true.

What is your most magical moment in Byron?
Most magical moment… sunset at the lighthouse… sunrise, or both! Especially last week at sunset because you can see all of Byron Bay and the sky has all of the colours.
What did you like most about Lexis Byron?
The teachers always help. Because the classes are on the smaller side it really helps. The English Only is also really good. It was really hard, but because of it I think I have improved.
What is your advice for people who are thinking about enrolling at Lexis Byron Bay?
You should prepare before you come. It can really help you improve and you can enjoy it too. You can do a lot of things here, soo many things! At least once in your life you should do this. It is a good experience.
