This week we wish a fond farewell to three students; Akira, Paz and Livia.
Akira started at Lexis Byron Bay nearly a year ago! When he started we had fewer than 10 students as the Australian borders were closed and nearly all our other students had finished their enrolments. Akira joined out mixed level IELTS class and, although it was difficult for him, was an immediate hit with staff and students alike. He brings a great joy and vibrancy to class along with a lot of funny stories. I’m sure that all his classmates will miss him dearly next week.
Akira is now on a Working Holiday Visa and will be starting work with a plumber on Tuesday. This is his dream job so we are very happy for him and wish him all the very best. (You can read more about his time in Byron and at Lexis here: https://lexisenglish.com/byron-bay-happy-student-blog-akira-19-october-2021/)
Paz graduated from the same Intermediate class as Akira. She has been here for 11 weeks. In the middle of her enrolment she went to India to stay on an ashram and now hopes to stay in Byron Bay for a while. Her teacher praised her positive, easy-going nature and said that she has improved a lot, especially in listening and speaking. She also praised her motivation in recent weeks. I think the ashram gave her some new focus. We will definitely miss her.
Finally, Livia, graduated from Paul’s Pre-Intermediate class but she is not leaving the Lexis family. She will be starting in Lexis Manly on Tuesday. Paul said that she should be very proud of herself, as all aspects of her English have improved over the six weeks she has been at Lexis. In particular, her speaking is a real strength. He said he was also impressed by her active participation in class and wishes her all the best for the future.
