Nana is 21 years old and comes from Geneva, Switzerland. She is into art, fashion and movies. She is currently studying psychology, but she is considering changing paths and study history of art. She would like to improve her English skills because she thinks learning new languages allows you to get to know people from different nationalities and enhances your job opportunities. Fun fact: she already knows how to speak Russian and French! She is looking forward to experiencing the Australian lifestyle and travelling around the country with some friends. Welcome Nana!
Welcome Gian-Luca!
Gian-Luca is 30 years old and comes from Switzerland. He works as a social worker and enjoys biking, skiing, and baking in his free time. He decided to come to Australia to improve his English and practice surfing. He already knows the basics of surfing, having spent some time in Portugal. Gian-Luca is eager to expand his vocabulary and improve his grammar so he can communicate more effectively with others. Welcome, Gian-Luca!
Welcome Loreto!
Loreto is 31 years old and comes from Chile. She’s a chemical engineer with experience working at a pulp mill in her home country. She came to Australia to improve her English and is excited to live new experiences, meet new people, and explore different cultures. Loreto will be studying at Lexis for three months, and after completing her course, she plans to travel to Indonesia with a friend. Welcome, Loreto!
Welcome, Pia!
Pia is 16 years old and comes from Bordeaux, France. Her brother Ivan previously studied with us, and now they’ll get to share some special time together here in Byron Bay. Pia is excited to improve her English and immerse herself in Australian culture. She’ll be studying with us for two months before joining her brother and parents in Indonesia. Welcome, Pia!
Welcome, Glenda!
Glenda is 39 years old and a talented graphic designer from Chilean Patagonia. She chose Byron Bay for its perfect mix of study opportunities and relaxed lifestyle. Glenda hopes to improve her English in order to work at the Chilean embassy one day. Welcome, Glenda!
Welcome, Sven!
Sven is 30 years old and comes from Switzerland. After working for 14 years, he decided it was time for a new adventure and has taken a break to explore Australia for six weeks. He chose Byron Bay for its sunny weather and excellent surf spots. Welcome, Sven!
Welcome, Luca!
Luca is 29 years old and comes from Italy. He has a background in electrical work and enjoys skiing, running, and football. Luca came to Australia to improve his English and explore greater job opportunities. Welcome, Luca!
The day started early with everyone gathering to take their placement tests. This helped us asses their English levels, making sure they are in the right class to get the most out of their time here.
After the tests, the students joined Rita for an orientation session where she gave them all the information, they need about the school and what’s ahead. They also got to meet Luke from Let’s Go Surfing and Chiara from Dundee. Luke shared some cool tips about the local surf scene, and Chiara talked about weekend trips and activities around Byron Bay. It was a great way to set the tone for an exciting and diverse adventure.
Next, the students joined their new classmates for the last hour of the morning class. It was a great way to ease into things and get a feel for the learning vibe here at Lexis. Then it was lunchtime—the perfect chance to chill out, grab some food, and start making new friends.
After a busy morning of placement tests, orientation, and a taste of the classroom environment, the students did an afternoon walk and talk with Rita. We saw some fruit bats on the way and also stopped at the Australian aboriginal art shop and were lucky enough to witness the shopkeeper play the didgeridoo.
