Unforgettable Adventures at Lexis Sunshine Coast
The past few weeks at Lexis English Sunshine Coast have been nothing short of unforgettable! As April turns to May, we’ve been soaking up the sunshine and making the most of everything this beautiful part of the world has to offer. From adrenaline-pumping challenges to relaxing afternoons by the water, here’s a snapshot of what our students have been up to lately.
High-Flying Fun at Next Level High Ropes
We kicked things off with an unforgettable adrenaline rush at the Next Level High Ropes course at Sunshine Plaza—Australia’s largest ropes course located above a shopping centre! Suspended high above the ground, with views stretching out over the Maroochydore waterways, our brave group of students strapped in and geared up for an afternoon of climbing, balancing, and ziplining.
Each course presented its own unique challenges, from wobbly rope bridges and swinging logs to tightropes and sudden drops. For some, it was a chance to push past their fear of heights; for others, it was just pure fun. Laughter, cheers, and the occasional nervous shout filled the air as everyone made their way through the levels.
By the end, the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie was undeniable – faces lit up with pride, high-fives all around, and stories already being shared. It was the perfect combination of teamwork, personal challenge, and unforgettable views from above!
Beach Volleyball & Coastal Vibes
You can’t study on the unforgettable Sunshine Coast without embracing its stunning beaches – and what better way to do that than with a few games of beach volleyball?
Our sessions on the soft sand became a fast favourite among students. With the golden sun overhead, waves rolling in just metres away, and the scent of salt in the air, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect and unforgettable. We divided into teams and got straight into the action—diving for saves, spiking for points, and cheering each other on every step of the way.
Even those who had never played before quickly got into the swing of things, discovering that skill wasn’t as important as spirit and enthusiasm. Laughter echoed across the sand as we played friendly matches, shared water breaks, and took in the stunning ocean views.
More than just a game, it was a chance to connect, move, and enjoy the coastal lifestyle that makes life at Lexis Sunshine Coast so special.
Picnic at Cotton Tree Park
Sometimes the best days are the simplest ones. One sunny afternoon, we headed to Cotton Tree Park for a relaxed picnic by the water. With students spread out under the shade of leafy trees, everyone brought along snacks, drinks, and their favorite foods to share.
It was a perfect setting to unwind after a busy week of activities and classes. We enjoyed great conversations, lots of laughter, and even a few spontaneous games of frisbee and cards.
The park’s peaceful atmosphere, with the gentle sound of the river nearby and the ocean just a short walk away, made it an ideal spot to connect, recharge, and simply enjoy the moment together.
Culture and Creativity at the Horizon Festival
To add a touch of culture to our weeks of adventure, we took some time to explore the Horizon Festival—the Sunshine Coast’s premier arts and culture event that showcases local creativity in all its forms. Over the unforgettable afternoon, we visited a selection of exhibits, from modern art installations to immersive multimedia displays.
It was a refreshing change of pace and a chance to see a different side of the Sunshine Coast—one where creativity, identity, and community come together. The festival sparked lots of interesting conversations, giving students an opportunity to practice their English in a more reflective, cultural context.
Whether you were an art lover or just curious to see something new, the Horizon Festival left a lasting impression and gave us all a deeper appreciation of the local arts scene.
Soccer Matches by the Sea
Back on solid ground—and just a few hundred meters from the sand—we laced up our boots for some friendly but fast-paced soccer matches that brought out the competitive spirit in the best possible way.
Students from all corners of the globe formed mixed teams, showcasing not only their footwork but also their teamwork and sportsmanship. The setting couldn’t have been more iconic: a coastal breeze, and the sound of crashing waves adding a soundtrack to our games. From impressive goals to hilarious slip-ups, every match was filled with energy, laughter, and encouragement from the sidelines.
Whether you were scoring goals or just enjoying the fun, the games gave everyone a chance to connect beyond the classroom. It was a great reminder that sport is a universal language—and one of the best ways to build friendships that last long after the final whistle.
Stand Up Paddleboarding at Chambers Island
To round off our action-packed few weeks, we embraced the laid-back coastal lifestyle with an unforgettable stand-up paddleboarding session near the peaceful waters of Chambers Island. Nestled in the Maroochy River, this local gem offered the perfect setting for both beginners and more experienced paddlers to enjoy a calm and scenic adventure.
After a quick intro and safety briefing, everyone was up (or trying to be!) and paddling in no time. There were a few wobbles and plenty of splashy falls, but the laughter made it all part of the fun. As we cruised along the shoreline, we took in the tranquil views, spotted local wildlife, and even had time for a few impromptu races.
It was the ideal way to unwind, reconnect with nature, and experience a different side of the Sunshine Coast—peaceful, playful, and full of surprises.
From high ropes to paddleboards, art galleries to soccer fields, the past few weeks at Lexis English Sunshine Coast have been packed with adventure, connection, and unforgettable moments. These experiences not only gave our students a chance to explore the beautiful Sunshine Coast, but also to grow in confidence, build friendships, and create memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
