Sign-up sheets for September academic courses are now on the commonroom noticeboards! The entry tests for all courses will be held on Tuesday 26th August at 9am.

These courses are intensive and students are required to attend all sessions, be enrolled for the entire course and complete a minimum of two hours homework per night. For the Cambridge and IELTS classes test practice is an integral part of the course and students have the opportunity to have practice in all areas of the tests with teachers skilled in these areas. The business course is lively and fun and includes excursions to different workplaces.Students in these courses may choose to join the Friday activity only.

Cambridge First Certificate and Advanced Certificate Preparation Courses

First Certificate is an upper intermediate level exam which requires students to be able to cope confidently with a range of written and spoken communications.  A pass at this level indicates proficiency in English for use in clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries, particularly tourism. Advanced Certificate Course requires students to be strong upper intermediate/advanced level.  Some universites and colleges will accept this certificate for entry.

You will be tested in grammar, reading, writng, listening and speaking. For FCE an overall pass of 50 % is expected and for CAE a pass of 65%

 

IELTS Preparation Course

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It meansures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking- for people who intend to study or work where English is th elanguage of communication. If you want to study at a university or TAFE college in Australia you will need to have an IELTS score. The score depends on the course but you will usually need to get between a 6 and a 7. You also need to have IELTS score to migrate to Australia.

You will be tested in reading, writing, listening and have a speaking interview. You will need to be at an intermediate level.

 

Business English Course

In this course you improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing in English through professional topics. It is a good course for any student who needs English for their work or to study business. Each week covers a different business topic such as making money, changing cultures, globalization and human resources.
