Noosa – Delicious Wine and Cheese Tasting – 22nd May

Exploring Palates: Students Delight in a Blind Cheese and Wine Tasting

Wednesday afternoons at Lexis School are usually reserved for winding down after a day of intensive classes. However, this week, the routine took a flavorful turn as students gathered for a sophisticated yet educational affair – a cheese and wine-tasting session.

As the clock struck the end of the last class, one of the school’s classrooms transformed into a mini haven. Tables adorned with neatly arranged cheese platters and an assortment of wine bottles awaited the eager participants.

The tasting wasn’t just about indulging the senses; it was also an opportunity for the students to engage in a bit of friendly competition and learning. Each participant was handed a small questionnaire to complete during the blind tasting, challenging them to identify the wine and cheese they were sampling.

The cheese and wine pairings were meticulously curated to offer a spectrum of flavors and experiences:

  1. Chardonnay and Brie: The smooth, buttery texture of the brie danced harmoniously with the crisp, fruity notes of the Chardonnay, creating a symphony of indulgence on the palate.
  2. Moscato and Blue Cheese: The sweet, floral aroma of the Moscato provided a delightful contrast to the bold, tangy profile of the blue cheese, resulting in a surprisingly balanced and intriguing combination.
  3. Sauvignon Blanc and Goat Cheese: The refreshing acidity of the Sauvignon Blanc complemented the earthy, tart nuances of the goat cheese, offering a refreshing and palate-cleansing experience.
  4. Pinot Grigio and Feta Cheese: The light, crisp Pinot Grigio acted as a perfect foil to the salty, crumbly feta cheese, creating a refreshing and palate-pleasing interplay of flavors.

In addition to the cheese and wine, platters of dried apricots and nuts were passed around, providing a delightful contrast of textures and flavors.

Laughter and animated discussions filled the air as students debated over the nuances of each wine and cheese pairing, exchanging tasting notes and sharing their experiences.

For the students, it was not just a midweek diversion, but a memorable journey into the world of gastronomy, one palate-pleasing sip and bite at a time.

Congratulations to the winning team Sam and Bruna, our new wine and cheese concierges, for scoring the highest points and winning themselves a bottle of Shiraz and Pods!
