Last Friday, our students at Lexis Brisbane had the pleasure of participating in a wonderfully relaxing yoga session, guided by one of our very own students, Akari Oda. It was the perfect way to unwind and de-stress after a long week of intense study and language practice.
Akari, originally from Japan, has been practising yoga for four years. Her experience extends beyond personal practice; she has also worked at a yoga studio in Japan, honing her skills and deepening her understanding of this ancient practice. Her passion for yoga was evident as she guided her fellow students through a series of calming and restorative poses.
The session began with Akari introducing herself and sharing her excitement about leading the yoga class in English for the first time. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, highlighting that it was a significant step towards her goal of working in a yoga studio in Brisbane. Akari’s enthusiasm was contagious, and it set a positive and welcoming tone for the entire session.
Throughout the class, Akari’s instructions were clear and soothing. She seamlessly combined her knowledge of yoga with her improving English skills, guiding the students through each pose with confidence and grace. Her ability to convey the essence of yoga in a second language was truly impressive and inspiring for everyone present.
The students responded enthusiastically to Akari’s guidance. Many of them commented on how relaxed and refreshed they felt after the session. For some, it was their first experience with yoga, and they appreciated the gentle introduction Akari provided. Others, who were more familiar with yoga, enjoyed the opportunity to practice in a supportive and friendly environment.
One of the highlights of the session was the sense of community and connection that developed among the participants. As Akari led the group through various poses and breathing exercises, there was a palpable sense of unity and shared purpose. It was a beautiful reminder of the diverse talents and backgrounds that our students bring to Lexis Brisbane.
Following the success of this yoga session, we are more committed than ever to encouraging our students to share their unique skills and passions with the school community. Activities like this not only provide valuable relaxation and stress relief but also foster confidence and personal growth. By stepping up to lead an activity, students like Akari can practice their English in a practical, real-world setting while also enriching the lives of their peers. We are incredibly proud of Akari for taking on this challenge and succeeding so brilliantly. Her willingness to step out of her comfort zone and guide a yoga session in English is a testament to her determination and dedication. It also serves as an inspiration to other students to showcase their own talents and interests.
At Lexis Brisbane, we believe that every student has something valuable to contribute. We encourage all our students to consider leading an activity or sharing a skill with the community. Whether it’s through teaching a yoga class, organizing a cooking workshop, or leading a discussion group, these activities help build a vibrant and supportive school environment.
In conclusion, last Friday’s yoga session was more than just a physical exercise; it was a celebration of our diverse and talented student body. It was a moment of relaxation, connection, and personal achievement. We look forward to many more such activities in the future, where our students can continue to learn, grow, and inspire each other.
Thank you, Akari, for your wonderful contribution, and thank you to all the students who participated. Let’s continue to support each other and make Lexis Brisbane a place where everyone’s talents can shine!
