Perth is famous for its stunning beaches, stretching along the Indian Ocean coastline for over 80km. From the clear blue waters and soft sands of Scarborough Beach to the rugged and remote coastline of Rottnest Island, there is a beach to suit every taste and activity.  Here’s our guide to Perth’s best beaches, and how to get to them!

 

Cottesloe Beach

 

Scarborough Beach

Scarborough Beach doesn’t need an introduction to Lexis Perth students!  Scarborough is a popular destination for beachgoers, thanks to its pristine waters and lively atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing, and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. Scarborough Beach also has a skate park, amphitheatre, and a public pool.  Try to time your visit for a Thursday afternoon, and stay for the Sunset Markets.  Of all of Perth’s best beaches, Scaborough is the favourite of the Lexis team. To get there, take the Joondalup Line train from Perth Station to Glendalough Station, then transfer to Bus 990 to Scarborough Beach.

 

Cottesloe Beach

Located in the suburb of Cottesloe, this beach is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The clear blue waters and white sand make it an ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing. The beach has plenty of amenities, including cafes, restaurants, and showers. Cottesloe Beach is also famous for its stunning sunsets. To get there, take the Fremantle Line train from Perth Station to Cottesloe Station, then walk for about 10 minutes to the beach.

 

City Beach

Located in the suburb of City Beach, this beach is a family-friendly spot with calm waters and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s an ideal destination for swimming, and it also has a playground and BBQ facilities. City Beach has plenty of cafes and restaurants, as well as a surf club. To get there, take the Fremantle Line train from Perth Station to City West Station, then transfer to Bus 81 or 82 to City Beach.

 

Trigg BeachT

Trigg Beach is a popular destination for surfers and bodyboarders, thanks to its consistent waves. It’s also an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing, and has a large grassy area for picnics and BBQs. Trigg Beach has plenty of amenities, including cafes and restaurants, and there’s a surf club nearby. To get there, take the Joondalup Line train from Perth Station to Stirling Station, then transfer to Bus 423 or 424 to Trigg Beach.

 

Mullaloo Beach

Mullaloo Beach is a stunning beach with clear blue waters and white sand. It’s an great spot for swimming and building sandcastles, and it also has a large grassy area, picnic facilities, and a children’s playground. Mullaloo Beach has plenty of cafes and restaurants, and there’s a surf club nearby. To get there, take the Joondalup Line train from Perth Station to Whitfords Station, then transfer to Bus 463 to Mullaloo Beach.
