Lexis English Noosa Students Took Part in a Fun and Immersive Aussie Experience – Tasting Aussie Treats and Learning Aussie Slang.

Vegemite dividing opinions in our immersive Aussie experience this Wednesday.

Australia, with its vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and unique lingo, offers an unforgettable experience for international students. What better way to immerse yourself in the Aussie spirit than through a ripper event filled with food tasting and Aussie slang games! Students delighted their taste buds and unleashed their inner Aussie with a fun-filled arvo of games and snacks!

Students had a delectable culinary journey through Australia’s diverse flavours, including: Meat Pies, Lamington, Tim Tams and of course the infamous Vegemite! No Aussie food experience is complete without havin’ a go at Vegemite, a beloved Aussie spread. The spread divided opinions between our students, as you can see from the picture above!

We started the afternoon of events with a fun Aussie slang game, where students had to match some Aussie slang words to their definitions, we added some fake phrases to throw the students off. They had a lot of fun matching the answers and celebrated every time they were able to guess the correct answer.

The second activity of the afternoon was to use the newly learned vocabulary in a sentence. They all did bloody great and felt proud of being able to use the newly acquired words like a true blue Aussie.

Our 26 adventurous students enjoyed testing out some new Aussie food and rated them from 1 to 5 stars. The two foods that came out on top were the Meat Pie and the Tim Tam! Unfortunately, the Vegemite didn’t please the food connoisseurs in the group!

We wrapped up our immersive activity afternoon with an exhilarating and competitive Kahoot game about Aussie Trivia to test if the students could answer the questions as a True Blue Aussie. The trivia winner took home a pack of Caramello Koalas to celebrate their sweet victory!
