The modern tradition of making gingerbread houses has become a fun family event at Christmas markets around the world.
A gingerbread house is a decorative edible structure made from gingerbread cookie dough. Typically associated with the holiday season, these houses are often assembled and decorated with icing and an assortment of sweets to create a festive and edible display! Gingerbread houses have become a popular tradition in many countries, and people often enjoy making them as a creative and fun activity during the Christmas season.
Our students teamed up and started to build their first ever gingerbread houses! Only one student had made their own gingerbread house before, back home with their family when they were a child, so this workshop was nostalgic for them!
Firstly, the students iced the gingerbread in preparation for its assembly. The students, armed with their piping bags, unleashed their artistic flair as they transformed the icing into festive decorations. The students let their creativity run wild with snow covered roofs and windows!
Then it was time to raid the sweets and decorate! Chocolate and gummy treats were applied to the houses in a perfectly festive manner, making them into a sweet wonderland!
The true magic lies in the joy of creation and the even sweeter reward of indulging in your handiwork. As the last gumdrops were placed, the students couldn’t wait to dive in and feast on their creation! But for one team of students, before they got the chance to dig in, they posed for a photo and their house fell apart!
