Last Friday, our students finished off the week by creating and enjoying some Nachos!
Nachos is a Mexican dish consisting of tortilla chips covered with cheese or cheese sauce, as well as a variety of other toppings and garnishes, often including meats, vegetables, and condiments such as salsa, guacamole, or sour cream. Many of these students hadn’t tried Nachos before this activity!
To make our Mexica nachos we started by prepping all our ingredients. We diced, grated, sliced and mashed our ingredients to perfection!
After the nacho chips and cheese were in the oven, we moved on to the black bean and corn mixture which we sautéed with onions and spices until it was fragrant.
We then pulled our nacho chips out of the oven and placed all our toppings on.
These included salsa, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, or black bean and corn mixture and capsicums.
Finally, we shared the nachos all together in a big feast!
Our students were introduced to a new cuisine and a brand new recipe which they can continue to use and share!
