Study At Lexis On A Student Visa

Can I study at Lexis on a Student Visa?

Yes. Lexis is fully registered to deliver courses to international students on Student Visas across all campuses in Australia. You’ll need a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) from Lexis to apply for your visa, and the minimum enrolment is usually 12 weeks. Most Student Visa holders stay anywhere from 3 to 12 months, depending on their goals.

This is the best option if you’re planning long-term study, want a consistent routine, or are thinking about using your English studies as a pathway to further education or migration.

What courses can I take on a Student Visa?

Student Visa holders can enrol in full-time English programs including General English, IELTS Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation, and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).

These are structured programs with clear outcomes and ongoing assessment. On a student visa, you’ll need to study 20 hours per week in class, with extra guided learning outside the classroom. Attendance and participation are compulsory, as required by visa regulations.

If your goal is to enter vocational training or higher education in Australia, the EAP and IELTS programs are especially useful.

Can I work while studying on a Student Visa?

Yes. You can work up to 48 hours per fortnight while your course is in session, and unlimited hours during your holiday periods. Many Lexis students find casual jobs in hospitality, tourism, retail, or cleaning services. The Job Workshop on campus will help you get started, with support for resumes, applications, and interview prep.

Lexis campuses are all located in areas with active job markets. If you’re flexible and reliable, you’ll usually find part-time work within the first few weeks of your stay.

What happens after I finish my English course?

Lexis offers a clear pathway to further study through Lexis Training, our vocational education division. Lexis Training delivers nationally accredited Certificate and Diploma programs in fields such as Business, Leadership and Management, Project Management, Digital Media, Marketing, Hospitality, Beauty Therapy, and Commercial Cookery.

These courses are CRICOS-approved and suitable for extended Student Visa stays. Many students use Lexis English as a foundation, then continue into VET programs either to upskill or to pursue migration-linked qualifications.

Our team can help you package your English and VET enrolments into a single visa application, or transition you smoothly into your next course if you decide later.

What kind of student chooses a Student Visa?

Student Visa holders are usually here with a long-term plan. That might be to reach a high level of English, to enter university or TAFE, or to complete a vocational course for migration or career purposes.

You’ll find students of all ages and nationalities on Student Visas at Lexis, but most are aged 18 to 35. Many are from Japan, Korea, Brazil, Colombia, Thailand, and parts of Europe. Some are fresh out of high school, others are professionals retraining or preparing for permanent residency.

If you’re looking for a longer, more structured experience with real academic outcomes, the Student Visa route makes sense.

What’s the lifestyle like for Student Visa holders?

Unlike the Tourist Visa, Student Visa holders tend to settle in for a longer stay. That means joining local gyms, finding shared accommodation, picking up part-time work, and really building a life in Australia.

You’ll still be part of the activities program (Lexis runs weekly events, weekend trips, and free clubs across all campuses) but you’ll also have the time and structure to develop deeper friendships, improve your fluency, and work toward longer-term goals.

Many Student Visa holders also take advantage of the campus transfer option to study in more than one location during their stay.

How do I find accommodation while on a Student Visa?

Lexis offers both homestay and student house options for new arrivals. Most Student Visa students begin with Lexis accommodation and then move into share housing once they’ve settled in and found flatmates. Staff on each campus can help with rental leads, inspections, and neighbourhood advice.

Housing costs vary by location. Expect to pay between 220 and 380 dollars per week, depending on the city, the time of year, and whether meals are included.

How do I apply?

To enrol at Lexis, start by selecting your course, campus, and start date. The Lexis admissions team will issue a Letter of Offer and then a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE), which you’ll use to apply for your Student Visa.

If you’re working with an education agent, they can manage this process for you. You’ll need to show that you have sufficient funds, appropriate health insurance, and a genuine reason for studying in Australia. The Lexis team can guide you through what’s required and help you prepare your application.
