FAQ – I want to study at the beach … Which is the best location for me?

Study At The Beach ... At Lexis English!

What’s the difference between Lexis Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast and Noosa?

Each of these campuses offers the same high-quality English programs and friendly, supportive learning environment. But outside the classroom, the experience is completely different… and that’s exactly the point. Choosing the right campus comes down to your lifestyle, your travel goals, and what kind of people you want to meet while you’re here.

Study at the beach …. Lexis Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a world-famous beach town with a big personality. It’s laid-back, creative, very alternative, and filled with people chasing surf, music, and good energy. Lexis Byron is a small campus with a tight-knit vibe, walking distance from both the beach and town. You’ll be studying alongside surfers, musicians, backpackers, and students from all over the world.

The pace of life is relaxed, but the calendar is packed with music festivals, live gigs, yoga classes, and social events. If you’re looking for somewhere a bit offbeat, social, and packed with character, Byron’s hard to beat.

Good for: Creative types, surfers, solo travellers, backpackers, people looking for a fun, alternative Australia experience.

Study at the beach …. Lexis Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast campus sits right in the heart of Maroochydore — walk to the beach in five minutes, grab lunch at the plaza, then hit the river at sunset. It’s a modern, mid-sized city with a chilled-out feel, popular with both Aussie holidaymakers and international students.

Lexis Sunshine Coast combines convenience with lifestyle. You get a busier town centre than Noosa or Byron, more job options, more cafes and shops — but you still get the beach every day. It’s also easy to explore the rest of the region: hinterland, national parks, and smaller beach towns are all nearby.

Good for: Students who want a coastal lifestyle with easy access to shops, nightlife, and part-time work. Work all year round

Study at the beach …. Lexis Noosa

Noosa is one of Australia’s most beautiful resort towns, with a huge national park, pristine beaches, and a polished, stylish atmosphere. The campus is located just a few minutes from the beach and river, in an area that’s quiet, safe, and very local. It feels less like a tourist town and more like a home base, but with some of the best surf and nature in the country right on your doorstep.

The Lexis Noosa campus is one of the most popular in the network, with feedback especially strong among students from Europe. The social program is excellent, the local cafes and weekend markets are well known, and there’s a strong sense of community.

Good for: Students who want something safe, beautiful and a little more refined — with plenty of activities, but less chaos.  The part-time work situation is very strong.

Which campus is best for meeting people?

All three campuses have strong activities programs, and you’ll meet people in class, at events, and on weekend trips. Byron is the most outwardly social and probably the best place for extroverts and independent travellers. Sunshine Coast has the biggest student population of the three, so there’s always something happening. Noosa is smaller and a bit more relaxed, but that often means tighter friendships and a more family-like atmosphere.

Can I transfer between campuses?

Yes, you can. One of the advantages of studying at Lexis is that you can switch between campuses during your course. Many students start in one location and then move to another — for example, starting in Byron and finishing in Noosa, or splitting time between study at the beach and the city. Transfers are simple and don’t require a new visa or new enrolment.

So how do I choose?

It comes down to what kind of Australia you want to experience:

  • Byron Bay is for people chasing music, surf and an alternative lifestyle.
  • Sunshine Coast is for people who want beach life with a bit more energy, convenience and work opportunity.
  • Noosa is for people who want nature, calm, and a classic resort-style Australian experience.

There’s no wrong choice for you to study at the beach,  just the one that fits your style. And if you want more than one, you can always try two or all three.
