Byron Bay – Entertaining Karaoke – 26 April 2024

Last Friday one of our teachers held a entertaining Karaoke activity with the students.

Karaoke is a great way to bring people together and create a fun time for everyone!

The first karaoke machine was invented by Japanese musician Daisuke Inoue in Kobe, Japan in 1971, however Inoue admits to not creating the name “karaoke”.   A Japanese entertaining group created the phrase after an orchestra went on strike and a machine was used instead to play the music.  “Karaoke” translates to “empty orchestra”.
Due to their love of singing, the Japanese have a very non-judgmental attitude towards listening to others sing and this is probably why karaoke has become such a success there.  The success has reached new places though as karaoke has spread to Korea, China, South-East Asia, the U.S. and Europe. If you want to find out more about the history of Karaoke please follow this link:

These are the songs the students picked to sing:

Bon Jovi – It’s my life
Vanessa Carlton – a 1000 miles
Bob Marley – No woman – no cry
Backstreet Boys – I want it that way
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
Bruno Mars – Lazy song & Marry you
