Learning how to surf in the iconic waves of Manly Beach!
Today at Lexis Manly 17 of our curious students embarked on an exhilarating surf lesson with our friends at Manly Surf School. Lexis Manly is located just across the road from beautiful Manly Beach – the perfect location for a surf lesson given that the beach is internationally known to be Australia’s birth place of surfing. It was a hot, summers day of 30 degrees, so perfect weather to jump into the water and catch some waves!
Learning to surf is about more than just standing up on the board, its also about appreciating the ocean, understanding the waves and following surf etiquette – to kick the surf lesson off the students gathered on the beach and learned the fundamentals of surfing before practicing the moves on a board outside the water for a little while.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the surf lesson was witnessing the transformation of our students’ confidence. Many began the day with hesitation, but as they embraced the waves and persisted through the initial challenges, a newfound sense of self-assurance emerged. Overcoming fear and stepping out of comfort zones became powerful lessons in resilience and personal growth.
For some of our students, this surf lesson was their first encounter with the Australian ocean or their first time at surfing. However, they did such an amazing job out in the water today and everyone got to stand up on their surfboards – what a memorable moment! This surf lesson provided a valuable opportunity for our students to embrace new challenges and make the most of the beach location of our campus.
