At Lexis Manly, we believe that exploring different cultures and traditions is an essential part of education. By learning about the rich culture of Indigenous Australians, our students gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and develop an appreciation for the diversity that makes Australia so extraordinary.

Boomerangs, the iconic curved wooden tools of ancient origins, are not only intriguing objects of aerodynamics but also fascinating canvases for artistic expression. For our students, understanding their historical significance, aerodynamic principles, and the creative potential they hold through painting is a journey worth embarking on.

We at Lexis English Manly would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we live and study on today – The Gayemagal people. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

🎨 The artistry of painting Boomerangs

Boomerangs were often painted or carved with designs to tell stories of legends and traditions in Indigenous Australian cultures. Some students went with the traditional Indigenous Australian painting style with earthy tones and Australian symbols, while others went with their own personal style, colours and techniques. Painting boomerangs encouraged our students to think outside the box and explore their artistic abilities. Whether it was experimenting with different colour combinations, patterns, or themes, each boomerang became a unique and beautiful work of art.5 2 E1712128292689
