The conditions weren’t ideal but that didn’t stop our students from excelling in the surf. Everyone could stand up by the end of the session and many rode waves right into the shore. Enjoy the great photos and abundant video footage from the day!

Earlier this month we wrote a detailed blog covering:

  • What happens on a typically surf lesson day?
  • What do the instructors cover in our group lesson?
  • Why do we trust Lets Go Surfing with teaching our students?

Plus more and it included some fantastic photos and videos from the picture-perfect day on Main Beach. You can preview and access the blog post below.

What happens on a typically surf lesson day? After class students get changed into their swimmers, then meet the Instructors outside our campus reception. Everyone walks together from the Lexis campus to Main Beach. We are blessed to be only a 15-minute walk to Byron’s Main Beach! Lets Go Surfing provide students with a locker for their belongings, wetsuits and boards and then everyone walks a few steps to Main Beach.

What do the instructors cover in our group lesson? During the lesson, the instructors educate students on ocean safely and how to catch and stand up on their first wave. Learning through a trusted school ensures that you build knowledge, confidence and cultivate the correct surfing technique – very important!

Why do we trust Lets Go Surfing (LGS) with teaching our students? LGS is Byron Bay’s longest running surf school. They have won multiple Toursim and Business awards for excellence in service and are Ecotourism certified. They also have a multi award winning team who love what they do. Importantly, they continue to deliver excellent service to us and we continue to receive excellent feedback from students.

Are you eager to learn to surf but nervous? Bodyboarding is a much easier learning curve!

If you are a beginner and have little ocean knowledge, getting to the point where you can catch waves consistently might take a couple of lessons. However, the learning curve for bodyboarding is far less and most excel with bodyboarding in their first lesson. Furthermore, bodyboarding is less weather and ocean condition dependant, it is hard not to have a blast bodyboarding. Our students can go bodyboarding for free once every month with our surf school partner, Lets Go Surfing. It is always a fantastic afternoon together, you can read about our recent bodyboarding afternoon below.

Instructors from Lets Go Surfing take our students bodyboarding for free once per month! On this occasion the waves were choppy, but all students managed to catch a few and have lots of fun, which is the important thing!
