Byron Bay- Amazing Nature Adventure- 9 February 2024

Last Friday, despite the relentless rain, a group of students embarked on an unforgettable adventure.

Undeterred by the weather, they set out to explore the natural wonders of Byron Bay and surrounds.

What And Adventure!Their first destination was Killen Falls, a local waterfall about 20 mins inland from Byron Bay. It is an incredible waterfall with a cave behind it which you can walk through. You can also swim in the pool below!

They then stopped at Broken Head Nature reserve for a short coastal walk, taking in the views of the coastline and the Three Sisters Rocks.Img 0965 Scaled

Indigenous people of the Bundjalung Nation share a Dreamtime story of The Three Sisters Rocks:

Three sisters swimming off the headland of Broken Head. The youngest sister swam out and became caught in a treacherous current flowing between the rocks. Her older sisters swam to save her but were also swept out. The three of them became exhausted fighting against the current and drowned, becoming the rocks that carry their name. Bundjalung people tell this story as a warning to their children, that if they swam there, they too might drown and turn to stone. – Read More about Indigenous Byron Bay culture here.

This story is usually told when walking the coastal track.
