Byron Bay – Dance! – 24 July 20

Afro-Brazilian Contemporary Dancing

Fernando came to us today to visit.  He is a dance teacher from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro and a friend of Pre-Intermediate‘s Veronica.  He studied ballet and is studying dance here in Australia.  He came to show his Afro-Brazilian dance style.  It shows references from the Afro-Brazilian religion – the ocean, rainforest, waterfalls, storms etc.  The movements show actions in these places.

Here we are looking at ‘bush cutting and saving’ actions in the dance of the rainforest people.  It was a nice way for students to listen to a talk in English and enjoy the arts!
