Picnic Adventure with Lexis English at New Farm Park

At Lexis English Brisbane, we believe that learning English should go hand in hand with exploring the beauty of Australia, creating lifelong friendships, and having a whole lot of fun along the way. That’s why, on Wednesday 23 April, we took our students on a memorable afternoon picnic to one of Brisbane’s most beloved spots—New Farm Park. But this wasn’t just any picnic… it started with a scenic ferry ride, a light rain shower, and ended with laughter, Jenga, roses, and new connections.
⛴️ A Ferry Ride to Remember
The adventure began right in the heart of the city as we boarded the famous Brisbane CityCat ferry. For some of our students, this was their very first time on a ferry, and their excitement was impossible to miss. Wide eyes, camera clicks, and delighted chatter filled the air. Even for those who had experienced it before, the ride across the Brisbane River brought smiles and a chance to see the city from a new perspective.
As we glided past the city skyline, a gentle rain began to fall—just enough to add a magical touch to the moment without spoiling the mood. By the time we arrived at New Farm Park, the rain had passed, and the sky cleared just in time for an afternoon of fresh air and laughter.
Picnic Tables, Chips & Jenga Challenges
Once at the park, we found the perfect picnic spot under a canopy of leafy trees. With crispy chips and refreshing drinks in hand, students settled around the picnic tables for some well-earned relaxation and good conversation. But the real fun began when we pulled out a giant Jenga set—suddenly, all eyes were on the tumbling towers and daring moves.
Laughter erupted with each risky block pull, and cheers went up for each successful stack. It was more than just a game—it was a chance for students to bond, practise their English in a playful setting, and enjoy being part of a truly international family.
Roses, Games & Good Vibes
After the snacks were gone and the Jenga pieces safely put away, it was time to stretch our legs. We took a walk through New Farm Park’s gorgeous rose garden, with students stopping to take photos among the blooms. The peaceful paths and blooming flowers created the perfect atmosphere for relaxed conversation and cultural exchange.
Later, we gathered on the open grass for a light game of pass-the-ball, which quickly turned into spontaneous laughter and playful teamwork. It didn’t matter where anyone came from—Colombia, Japan, Brazil, Korea, Italy, or beyond—everyone felt connected in that moment.
