Sun, Sport & Sausage Sizzles: Celebrating Lexis Style at Roma Street Parklands
Two Unforgettable Days of Fun, Food & Friendship!
This term, Lexis English Brisbane brought students together not once, but twice for epic end-of-term BBQ celebrations! On May 25 and again on July 25, we took over Roma Street Parklands for sunny afternoons packed with classic Aussie culture, food, games, and loads of laughter.
A Sausage Sizzle to Remember
On both days, the aroma of sizzling sausages filled the air as students and staff gathered under Brisbane’s sunny skies. Thanks to our lovely students and teachers, who volunteered as our BBQ heroes, the grill was hot and ready, serving up delicious sausages straight off the “Barbie”. It wasn’t just about food—it was about teamwork, hospitality, and sharing culture, Aussie-style!
Games, Laughter & Friendly Rivalry
Once plates were full, it was time to move! Students from all levels joined in friendly games, including intense football matches and crowd-favourite classics like the egg-and-spoon race. Whether you were sprinting toward the finish line or laughing through wobbly spoons, it was a true test of balance, coordination, and school spirit.
Highlights included:
- International football showdowns full of cheers and chants
- Competitive (but hilarious) egg-and-spoon races
- Sand games and picnic lounging with friends from across the globe
Community, Culture & Connection
Both events reflected what makes Lexis so special: real connections, shared experiences, and memories made beyond the classroom. Students, teachers, and staff all came together not just to celebrate the end of term, but to celebrate each other.
As the sun set over the parklands, with smiles all around and bellies full of sausages, one thing was clear:
