Following our huge intake of wonderful new students on Tuesday, we played some get-to-know-you games at Wednesday’s coffee club and students new and old enjoyed a Tim Tam and had a giggle. The first coffee club of 2017 commenced with a game of ‘Aussie heads’ or at least this is how the game is known at Lexis. With the name of a random objects stuck to your head, you must use only your conversational powers to find out who or what you are. A little new to the game, our fantastic new student activities and support officer Claire found herself last to guess correctly – a little embarrassing but she has now recovered from the defeat and is feeling hopeful for next weeks’ game.
The afternoon coffee club was enjoyed in the sunshine and again Tim Tams showed their incredible ability to encourage our students to converse in impeccable English. We started by sharing our stories and it was fascinating to discover what had brought these students from various countries all around the world to study in the mesmerizing location of Byron Bay. With their surf boards, glowing tans and flipflops it was hard to imagine the lives they had left, working for banks in Switzerland and airports in Italy.
