Today our Happy Student at Lexis Byron Bay is Yuya!
Yuya!
Tell us a little about yourself Yuya:
I’m Yuya. I’m from Osaka, Japan. I’m a university student. I have stopped (deferred) for one year. I have stayed here for 2 months. It was too short for me!
Why did you choose Byron Bay?
I love to do exercise, I love nature, and I love a peaceful atmosphere. I told my agent that I love all of these things and my agent said all these things are in Byron.
What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia? Tell me more about your teachers and your classes.
I think my speaking skills were my greatest weakness in English. Though after coming here I have had lots of time to practice.
My classes have been awesome, especially my teacher Prue! She has lots of experiences and stories. They are always intersting and funny. Prue always has time for us and she has really helped me improve.
What was your favourite activity?
I joined in lots of activities! Mandala rock painting, boomerang painting, body boarding, cooking, Christmas card making and BBQ’s! Though my favourite was the Mexican Food Cooking! 🌮
I really think that joining in activities was a good and nice way to improve my English – you should do it!
Tell me about your accommodation/ homestay…
Accommodation, I was in the accommodation. I was sharing in a room with 4 boys in total. 2 Italians, 1 Korean and 1 Japanese (me).
I only cooked a little when I was back home, but here I have cooked lots. It was so fun because I could spend time with new friends, and we would often work together and we would all share Japanese food, Swiss food and Italian food… it was the best!
What are your favourite things to do in Byron?
In Byron I started to do surfing. It was my most important thing to experience when I was here. And it was easy to do all the time because it was near the school and we could go before class and then we could go after class!
What is your most magical moment in Byron?
I think I have a lot of new experiences… but, I had never cooked much, but now I cook a lot! And I like sharing your meal with friends and you eat it all together and I think that is special.
