To coincide with the Taiwan Dragon Boat festival, we are creating our own dragon masks at 2pm in the GV Noosa presentation room on Wednesday.

Dragon

Seeing as we can’t make a dragon boat, the next best things is a dragon mask!  Join us for some dragon making fun and creativity at 2pm in the presentation room.  The best masks will win prizes!

The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival festival has a long history dating back thousands of years. Duanwu Festival is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.  This year, it is officially celebrated on June 16, 2010.

The Dragon Boat Festival commemorates the popular Chinese patriot, Qu Yuan.  (Chu Yuan) who in the 3rd century in protest of a corrupt government threw himself into the Mi Lo River in despair.  The locals tried to save him with no luck and so the annual tradition was born.
