Many international students at Lexis choose to make start their life in Australia living with a local homestay family. We are always looking for warm, welcoming local families who are interested in sharing their homes with one or more of our students.

4. Host family agreement

AGREEMENT I, the undersigned head of the household (on behalf of all members of the household and the collectively called “I”) agree to participate in a student exchange program by serving as a host for international visitors. I recognise that the exchange program has been arranged by Lexis Brisbane English College Pty Ltd (“The College”) which includes its officers and employees. I also recognise that there are certain risks in having people visit me and stay in my home. I am willing to assume and bear these risks in order to meet and share the experience with someone from another country. Therefore, in consideration of my selection by the College to be a host for the exchange program, I do hereby release, indemnify and hold blameless the College for all claims, damage or injury to any person or property of any member of the household, arising out of, or in any manner connected with any aspect of the exchange program. As a Host, I shall:

Permit an inspection of my home initially and periodically as required (minimum of once every year).
Permit photographs to be taken of my home and family initially and periodically as required.
Provide a room and meals for the required time period and be present in the home for the whole period of the placement.
I understand that I cannot accept students of the same Nationality at one time, unless pre-arranged.
I understand that for Japanese students, my homestay must not have a male her age living in the home
I will advise the College immediately of any overseas students, other than Lexis English Brisbane students, who are accommodated in the home during the period of Homestay.
I agree not to enter into a private arrangement allowing the student to remain living in my home upon completion of their original booking with the College.
I agree to provide the College with as much prior notice as possible if I will be away overnight, over a weekend or longer.
I acknowledge the right of the College to terminate the Homestay arrangement without notice or penalty if they believe the standard of Homestay accommodation and associated service provision is not in accordance with the information provided on the Homestay Application Form.
I understand that if the student(s) should move out for any reason prior to the end of their assigned stay, I will be required to refund Lexis English Brisbane the balance of the monies paid to me for the remaining time. I agree to refund these monies to the College within 7 days of the student departing.

As a host, I shall willingly accept in my home people who may be of another race or religious preference who may not speak my language and who may have customs with which I am not familiar.
