Mizuki from Japan, shares her experience at Lexis Sydney – Manly. Find out more about her time at our campus!
Every week at Lexis, we welcome new students from around the world, each with their own goals and unique dreams. What unites them is their shared desire to improve their English and create unforgettable memories in Australia. Today, we’re excited to share Mizuki’s experience at Lexis Sydney – Manly!
Since starting her General English course in May, she has had a wonderful experience in Sydney – forming lovely friendships, joining fun activities and excursions and making the most of her Australian adventure. Mizuki was also a homestay student, living with a wonderful Australian family while studying with us, adding to her incredible experience.

Why did you chose Lexis Sydney – Manly?
Mizuki is 27 years old from Japan and studied at our campus for 3 months in our General English course. During her time here, she made great progress with her speaking skills and grew a lot more confident using English in daily life. Mizuki also enjoyed joining our afternoon activities, which gave her the chance to make new friends and experience the Australian lifestyle. Mizuki shared with us more on why she first wanted to study at Lexis:
“I was introduced to Lexis through my agency and I am very glad I ended up choosing Lexis! I loved the Manly campus, everyone I met – from the staff, teachers to my classmates – everyone was so kind! With the beach right next door to the school and only being 20 minutes from the City – I think that it was the perfect choice for me!”
What have been some of your greatest memories while being a student here?
Mizuki had an unforgettable experience at our Manly campus and shared some of the moments that made her time here so special:
“The highlight for me was meeting so many different people and building amazing friendships with students from all over the world. Even the Japanese friends I met here are people I never would have crossed paths with back home. I loved making international friends and chatting with them every day, which helped me improve my English so much faster. My favourite activity at Lexis was definitely Beach Volleyball – it gave me the chance to meet my friends, and without joining it, I wouldn’t have the wonderful friendships I have today.”
Mizuki truly made the most of her time at Lexis, building lasting friendships, embracing new experiences, and creating memories that will stay with her long after her English journey.
How much has your English improved since you first started studying in Sydney?
Mizuki talked with us more on how her English skills have improved and the progress she’s made during her time at Lexis Sydney – Manly:
“Thanks to the support at Lexis, my confidence in English has grown so much! I can understand others easily now even though long conversations are still something I’m working on. When I first arrived, I only knew the basics, but now I can have real conversations and express myself with confidence. I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made, and I know it wouldn’t have been possible without my amazing teachers.”
What would you say to students thinking about studying here?
We asked Mizuki what advice she would give to future students considering Lexis Sydney – Manly, and here is her answer:
“If you’re thinking about studying at Lexis, go for it! The teachers were very kind and taught the lessons very clearly – making it so much easier to learn. Above all, the view of the beach from the balcony was amazing and studying right by the beach everyday was a dream.”
Tell us more about your homestay experience:
Mizuki was also a homestay student during her time here, living with a wonderful Australian family while studying with us. We asked Mizuki more about her homestay experience and what made it so special:
“I really enjoyed my three months of homestay. The meals were delicious, and I had a lot of fun having lunch and dinner with my host parents, talking with them, swimming together at Shelly Beach, and playing board games. I also enjoyed watching movies and going to the sauna with the other Japanese girl who stayed in the homestay with me. Every day at meal-time, we talked about what I learned at school, shared stories from the weekend, and discussed the differences between Australian and Japanese culture. It was so much fun every day. They were the best host family ever!”
What do you planned next after your time at Lexis?
Mizuki finished her studies recently with us, so we were curious to hear what’s next for her after her time at Lexis and in beautiful Australia. She shared her exciting plans for the future:
“I will stay in Sydney for the next few months and continue working. When Summer comes, I am thinking of moving to a new city – perhaps Melbourne or the Gold Coast. My main goal is to be able to see as much of Australia as possible while still being able to improve my English in every day conversation.”
Mizuki’s time with us may have come to an end, but her journey is only just beginning. We look forward to seeing all she achieves in the future and will always consider her part of the Lexis family.
