Today Lexis Manly in Sydney welcomed 20 new international students, and tonight we’ll be joined by a few more!
Lexis Sydney’s new starters join international students from all around the world.
This week our new students come to us from Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, Japan, Spain and Turkey. Some come on tourist visas, student visas, and working holiday visas, but the one thing they all have in common is a plan to make new friends, to learn English and to experience life in Australia. We love that!
Today we give a warm welcome to:
- Davi Soares Da Silva, Laura Fernandes, William Viana Masi, and Marjorye Altenhofen from Brazil
- Luca Landais de Parseval from France
- Lucie Moreno Arias of Germany
- Haruka Iguchi, Miyu Tamura, Mami Uemura, Waraku Iiyama, Mizuki Imamura, and Kana Matsukawa – from Japan
- Alba Balasch, Diego Rodriguez Valdivieso, and Oriol Traver Perez – from Spain, and
- Tuna Aydin, Gulnur Guvenc, Furkan Yildrim, and Mustafa Kilickalkan who are from Turkey.
Day one is always super busy for students and staff! There’s paperwork to complete, student tests, campus orientation and class placement interviews. On-boarding takes up most of the morning, but after lunch, new students have the option to join a “walk and talk” tour of Manly with one of our teachers. The tour is a great way to get to know the local area, meet new classmates and to ask questions.
Extra student resources
To help our new international students settle in, we’ve put together a handy guide that answers the top 7 questions new students ask about setting up life in Australia.
The guide covers topics such as
- How to apply for an Australian Tax File Number
- Where to find accommodation
- How to open a bank account
- Where to look for work
- How to get around Sydney
- What to do if personal items are lost on public transport
