Fun Activities at Lexis Sydney – Manly: Aussie Food Tasting, Boomerang Painting & Pub Crawl!
Recently at Lexis Sydney – Manly, our social activities have been all about culture, creativity, and connection. Students took part in a range of experiences that were not only fun but also educational, making afternoons after class something to get excited about.
From sampling Aussie favourites at our food tasting session, to expressing creativity through boomerang painting, and wrapping up the week with a lively pub crawl, there was something for everyone to enjoy. These activities gave students the perfect chance to practice English in a relaxed environment, discover more about Australian culture, and build lasting friendships along the way.
Australian Food & Drinks Tasting:
We kicked off with a true taste of Australia! From the bold flavour of Vegemite to the sweetness of Tim Tams, students sampled a variety of Aussie favourites – some surprising, others instantly loved. Every bite sparked laughter, conversation, and plenty of first impressions. It was the perfect way to explore local culture, practice English, and share a fun experience together tasting some delicious treats.
Boomerang Painting:
Recently, our students explored Australia’s Indigenous culture through the history and significance of the boomerang. After learning more from a staff member and watching informative videos, they had the chance to get hands-on and decorate their own wooden boomerangs. Using bright paints and markers, students created designs that were inspired by traditional Aboriginal art and symbols. The activity was a fun and meaningful way to be creative while gaining a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture and its important traditions.
Pub Crawl:
To round off the week, students joined our Friday pub crawl, a lively afternoon full of good conversation, games, and great company. We played a few fun pub games that had everyone joining in, cheering, and competing in the spirit of friendly competition. The relaxed atmosphere was perfect for practicing English, making new friends, and enjoying a taste of Sydney’s social scene together. It was the ideal way to end the week on a high note, with plenty of smiles and memories to take home.
