Sunshine Coast – Moon Inspired Paint and Snack – 8 November

Friday afternoons are made for painting the moon with friends!

On a beautiful Friday afternoon, our students unleashed their creativity! The students’ paintings were inspired by the recent Hunter’s Moon.

The brightest and largest object in our night sky, the Moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating our home planet’s wobble on its axis, leading to a relatively stable climate. It also causes tides, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years.

Painting allows for creative expression, allowing individuals to express their thoughts, emotions and ideas in a visual form, making it a powerful outlet for creativity.  It is also great for stress relief as engaging in painting can be relaxing and therapeutic, helping reduce stress and anxiety as it focuses your mind on the present moment.

Painting the moon presents a captivating challenge for artists. Capturing the subtle, ethereal glow of Earth’s celestial companion requires a delicate blend of shades and textures.

The students used various techniques from soft washes of colour to intricate detailing of lunar craters. Some students chose to depict the moon on a starry night sky whilst other moons were nestled in a tranquil landscape.

Painting the moon invited us to explore the otherworldly beauty of our cosmic neighbour on canvas!

In this environment of creative freedom, the students not only develop their artistic skills but also learn valuable lessons about self-expression, patience, and the beauty of imperfection. The act of painting becomes a journey of self-discovery, and the joy they experience is a testament to the power of art to uplift the spirit and inspire a sense of wonder.
