The Grand Gifu Women’s University Trip
For the last week we have been lucky enough to host eight incredible students from the Gifu Women’s University in Japan! These students have spent their time joining in classes, participating in activities and bettering their English skills.
Last week the students were treated to a fun afternoon of being made up and pampered at the hands of our Beauty House Academy trainees. Here at Lexis Sunshine Coast, we are lucky enough to have our Beauty House Academy – a vocational training institute for beauty and cosmetic diplomas – right here in the same building. This means that occasionally the trainees will come up to our classes and request a few students to model for their treatments. This day our Gifu students were more than happy to lend a helping hand and experience the fun of inspiring some of our creative make up looks.
From rainbows to flowers, the students were treated to some beautiful and inspired make up looks, however that has not been their only adventure while they were in Australia.
Today the Gifu Women’s University students had the pleasure of visiting Peregian Beach College, one of our local schools, whom we regularly work closely with. While visiting year 6 classes, the students imparted their knowledge of origami and Japanese games.
The Peregian Beach students today got to learn a variety of skills, such as making chopstick covers and holders, and origami sumo wrestlers – a skill they got to utilize when they participated in origami sumo wrestling battles, which seemed to get everyone excited and rooting for their very own little paper sumo wrestler!
The Gifu Women’s University students are on this trip as part of their nutrition degree which of course meant a visit to check out the Peregian Beach College tuckshop (also known as a canteen or snack bar), before eventually making their way back to Lexis Sunshine Coast to finish up classes for the day.
Overall, it has been a pleasure to have the students from Gifu Women’s University here for the last week and we look forward to seeing how they grow and all the things they experience in the week to come.
