Two Weeks of Flavour, Fun and Fitness: A Recap of Our Recent Adventures
The last two weeks have been a brilliant mix of adventure, teamwork, and plenty of laughs. Whether we were out on the water, playing hard on the field, or just sharing a cuppa and a cocktail, the past fortnight really showcased the strength of our community spirit—and our ability to have a great time. Here’s a look back at what we’ve been up to.

Week 1: Making Waves and Memories
Friday – Kayaking Adventure

There’s nothing quite like swapping your desk chair for a kayak paddle to wrap up the workweek. On Friday the 4th of April, a group of us headed out for an afternoon on the water—and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the fortnight. With a light breeze keeping things cool, we launched into a serene setting perfect for both beginners and seasoned kayakers alike.

As we paddled along, there were plenty of laughs, splashes, and the occasional accidental spin. Some stuck to a leisurely pace, gliding along and taking in the scenery, while others embraced a more competitive edge, racing each other across the water. Regardless of pace or paddling prowess, the outing was a refreshing break from routine and a great way to connect in a more relaxed, natural setting.

By the end, a few of us were definitely feeling it in the arms, but everyone agreed—it was totally worth it. Nature, teamwork, and a little bit of friendly competition? The perfect Friday combo.

Week 2: Sports, Scones, and Shakers
Wednesday – Rugby Rumble

Midway through Week 2, we added a bit more of an intense flavour—in the best way possible. Wednesday’s rugby match brought out our competitive side and reminded us all why sport is such a great outlet for energy and team bonding.

Players took to the field with enthusiasm, ready to pass, tackle, and sprint their way through the afternoon. For some, it was a return to a familiar game; for others, a crash course in the rules and rhythm of rugby. But whether you were diving for a try or just figuring out which direction to run, everyone gave it their all.

There were some impressive plays, a few laughs, and lots of supportive cheers. The match ended with everyone a little bit breathless and a little bit muddy, but the smiles said it all. Win or lose, it was a fantastic way to break up the week and enjoy some time outdoors.

Friday – Morning Tea & Cocktail Making Competition

We began our Friday in the most delightful way—with a warm and welcoming morning tea that brought everyone together for a bit of mid-morning indulgence. The spread was impressive with an array of flavour: hot cross buns, a variety of pastries, fruit, and, of course, plenty of tea and coffee. It wasn’t just about the food, though. It was a chance to slow down, catch up with familiar faces, and connect with people you might not normally chat with during the week. Conversations flowed easily, laughter filled the room, and the relaxed, communal atmosphere set the tone for what would be a fantastic day.

It was a gentle reminder of how important it is to make space for casual, low-pressure social moments during the busy week. No schedules, no structure—just a good cup of tea, great company, and a calm start to a Friday that was only just getting started.

Later that afternoon, things took a more energetic (and slightly tipsy) turn with our much-anticipated cocktail making. From the moment the cocktail kits were laid out the excitement was palpable. Participants went head-to-head, armed with two classic cocktail recipes, each with their own distinct flavour. The creativity was flowing: garnishes were flying, glasses were clinking, and a few brave souls even attempted flair moves with the shakers (with varying degrees of success).

What truly elevated the experience was the competitive flavour of the afternoon. We had judges on hand, scoring drinks based on taste, presentation, and speed. The friendly rivalry had everyone cheering each other on, and by the end, we had not only crowned a winner but also shared a lot of laughs and created lasting bonds.

Looking Ahead
Reflecting on these two weeks, it’s clear that our campus thrives when we come together—whether that’s for sport, relaxation, or just having fun. These events weren’t just a break from class; they were a reminder of how important it is to share experiences, try new things, and simply enjoy each other’s company outside the usual day-to-day.

Thanks to everyone who joined in and brought such great energy to every moment. Here’s to more unforgettable activities just around the corner—bring it on!
