Noosa – Serene Noosa Everglades Tour – 4th October

Exploring the natural beauty of the Noosa Everglades on the famous ‘serenity‘ boat cruise!

The Noosa Everglades, often referred to as the “River of Mirrors,” is a hidden gem nestled within the Cooloola region of the Great Sandy National Park, Noosa. One of ONLY two Everglades on Earth, the Noosa Everglades has some very unique things going for it. It’s an unparalleled ecosystem that is home to over 40% of Australia’s bird species, its intricate network of waterways provides an important sanctuary for some of our most iconic creatures.

The Everglades are a genetically blessed wilderness of crystal-clear waters that are lined with ancient tea tree forests and floating lily pads. The landscape here has remained unchanged for thousands of years, making it a crucial biosphere for this pocket of Queensland.

Its spectacular network of pristine waterways and wetlands that connect the Northern River system of the Sunshine Coast, makes it a must-visit destination. A group of Lexis students recently had the privilege of exploring this breathtaking wonderland on the Serenity Tour, an adventure that left them awestruck and deeply connected to the natural world!

To kick off the Serenity Tour, 26 excited Lexis students hopped on the Everglades bus at 1:00pm and drove 30 minutes north to Habitat Noosa. From there, we boarded the boat and drove across Lake Cootharaba, where we were shortly immersed amongst the breath-taking Everglades. While the boat smoothly cruised through the serene waters of the Everglades, students were treated to a mesmerizing exhibition of nature’s beauty and had the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge about the Everglades through the informative commentary provided by the tour guide. The mirrored surface of the water reflected the surrounding forests and sky, creating a surreal and enchanting atmosphere.

Whilst sitting back and relaxing, the students also had the opportunity to indulged in a complimentary glass of champagne or beer that is locally brewed on-site. In the taste of beer, the one ingredient that shouldn’t make any difference is the one that really does “it’s the water”. Eco Brewery source the water from the Cooloola Sandmass Sub-Artesian basin, which filters through sand and gravel for over 75 years before reaching us. The water is then blended with the best yeast and hops from around the world to create a 100% natural beer.

After our beautiful 2-hour serenity tour, the students had the opportunity to meet some furry locals that reside at Habitat Noosa. For some students, it was their very first kangaroo they’ve seen in Australia, especially wild ones! It was a perfect ending to our perfect Everglades experience!
