A Sizzling Success – Lexis Noosa’s Unforgettable School BBQ at Pinaroo Park
In the heart of Noosa, Lexis English has once again proven that learning knows no bounds, transcending the classroom and embracing the spirit of community. Recently, the school organized a delightful whole-school BBQ at the picturesque Pinaroo Park, just a leisurely 5-minute stroll from the campus. An early Christmas and end-of-school celebration for our students and staff!
The highlight of the event? The masterful culinary skills of one of Lexis English’s own students, David from Spain, who took charge of the grill and wowed everyone with a fabulous sausage sizzle.
The Perfect Setting:
Pinaroo Park, surrounded by lush greenery and bathed in the warm Australian sunshine, served as the ideal backdrop for this communal gathering. Students and staff alike gathered in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying the great outdoors and strengthening the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that Lexis English is known for.
Australian barbecues, commonly referred to as “Aussie barbies,” are an integral part of Australian culture. Barbies are often held in backyards, parks, beaches, and camping sites throughout the country. They are not only a way to cook food, but also a social gathering that brings family and friends together. Australian barbecues typically feature a variety of grilled meats, however the most popular includes sausages (known as “snags“). A sausage sizzle consists of snags in bread with fried onion and sauce on top.
David Takes the Lead:
As the aroma of sizzling sausages filled the air, it was evident that something special was underway. The man behind the grill, David, demonstrated his culinary prowess with finesse. Armed with tongs and a contagious enthusiasm, David cooked up a storm, ensuring that every sausage was perfectly grilled and infused with flavor. His infectious energy and genuine passion for cooking added an extra layer of enjoyment to the event.
Beyond the delicious food, the BBQ served as a melting pot for cultural exchange and connection. Students from various corners of the globe came together, playing backyard games, sharing stories, laughter, and a meal under the Australian sun. It was a moment that transcended language barriers, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Friendly, yet competitive game of Dobble:
With full bellies (stomachs) and an icy drink in hand, students sat around and enjoyed a game of Dobble (also called Spot It!). Dobble is a card game where you race other players to claim cards by spotting symbols. Each of the colourful cards has eight symbols, one of which always matches a symbol of another card. You race to spot the match, call it out and place your next card. This makes for a game of careful focus, quick deduction and lightning reactions that bring the competitive instinct out of even the calmest of people.
Lexis English Noosa’s whole-school BBQ at Pinaroo Park was more than just a culinary delight; it was a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Through events like these, Lexis English continues to prove that education is not confined to the four walls of a classroom but extends to the vibrant tapestry of life experiences that students encounter during their time in Noosa. As the sun set on Pinaroo Park, it was clear that the echoes of laughter and the aroma of sausages would linger in the hearts and minds of Lexis English students, creating lasting memories of a truly unforgettable day.
Overall, it was a relaxing afternoon of Christmas celebrations for everyone! We all enjoyed the sunshine, delicious food and great company!
