Noosa – Beach Volleyball Fun at KB’s – 5th January

A Fun-Filled Friday: Lexis English Students Hit Koala Bar for Beach Volleyball!

The sun was shining, the beach vibes were in the air, and Lexis English students were geared up for an unforgettable Friday afternoon at Koala Bar. This week’s chosen activity? A lively session of beach volleyball, complete with cold beers, upbeat music, and an atmosphere buzzing with excitement. The stage was set for an afternoon of camaraderie, friendly competition, and sheer enjoyment with mates.

Nestled in the heart of Noosa’s vibrant beach culture is Koala Bar, a haven for beach volleyball enthusiasts. Here, a group of Lexis Noosa students came together and embraced the sun, sand, and sport, forging friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Volleyball In Action

We began the afternoon playing some friendly beach volleyball without rules. Students warmed up and got themselves familiar with the game by trying to keep the ball off the ground, no matter how many hits or people it took. Once we started to get the hang of it, we split into teams of 6 and started to play a little more competitively.

The object of volleyball is to hit the volleyball over the net (by only using your hands) running through the centre of the court whilst trying to get it to bounce in your opponent’s half. The opposing team has to try and prevent the ball from bouncing before returning the ball. Games are played out in best of 3 or 5 sets and the team with most sets at the end of the game wins. Instead, we played to 15 points and the first team that got there, got to stay on the court to compete against the next team.

The basic rules of volleyball include:

  • Only 6 players on the floor at any given time – Usually 3 in the front row and 3 in the back row.
  • Serve the ball over the net.
  • Allow 3 hits before the ball must go over the net.
  • Keeping the ball in bounds.
  • No player can touch the ball twice in a row.
  • Points are made when the ball hits the opponent side of the floor.
  • All players must rotate positions after each point.

To beat the heat and satisfy their thirst during the volleyball matches, the students indulged in some refreshing cold beverages. Others simply relished the opportunity to socialize with friends, engaging in lively conversations while watching the matches. It served as a wonderful way to cap off the week and kickstart the weekend on a high note!

With sandy feet, smiles, and memories to last a lifetime, the Lexis English students wrapped up their beach volleyball extravaganza at Koala Bar. These Friday activities not only showcase the diverse interests and talents within the Lexis community but also emphasize the importance of friendship and fun in the language-learning journey. Here’s to more unforgettable Fridays and the incredible experiences that await the Lexis English crew on their language adventure in Noosa!
