Last week was an Action Packed Week of Fun Activities at Lexis Noosa!
For our students, it’s important to unwind during a week of English learning and our activity programme is the best way to do so. Every week, we do activities together on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to showcase the best of what life in Noosa is like. Our activities range from arts and crafts to watersports and from karaoke to yoga, with a whole load of Aussie culture thrown in there too. Here’s a glimpse of what activities we got up to last week:
Wednesday’s Activity – Aussie Food Tasting!
For our first activity this week we got stuck into some Aussie grub, trying out the best (and worst!) of Australia’s favourite foods. We tried everything from sweet to savoury, featuring meat pies and sausage rolls, shapes and of course vegemite, before moving on to some sweet treats like lamingtons, anzac biscuits and fairy bread, and it wouldn’t be Aussie food tasting without some Tim Tams too. Whilst sampling these delicacies, we got to grips with some Aussie slang so that our students can head out into the local area sounding like some true blue Aussies!
It was a real cultural experience for everyone, as they have travelled from around the globe to learn English in Australia and it was definitely an activity they will remember forever!
Thursday’s Activity – Surf Lesson!
Noosa’s Main Beach is a postcard in real life and boasts stunning white sand with crystal clear seas. The waves are perfect for surfers of all levels, from beginner to pro and it’s a bucket list item for many students to catch some waves while they study with us. We joined up with our friends at Merrick’s Learn to Surf Noosa to give our students the experience of a lifetime! Although it was the first time surfing for many, by the end of the lesson, everyone was standing on the waves and it was awesome to see the progress.
Friday’s Activity – Lexis Pub Quiz!
It’s important that our students soak up their surroundings and immerse themselves in Noosa and Australia, so what better way to test that they have been paying attention than a fun pub quiz on a Friday afternoon! With questions on Noosa and Australia, it pays to have thrown yourself head first into Noosa life! We had a round on Noosa, one on Australia too, we were quized on Aussie sport and played guess the Australian celebrity too.
It was the perfect way to bring in the weekend and to start unwinding after a busy week of learning English! Our winners were team Cambridge United! Their knowledge of Noosa and Australia won them all a free cocktail at The Culinary Academy, served by our friends from our classes that are currently studying on the Bar & Cocktail course we offer.
