Noosa – Activity Recap – 21st March

Last week was an Action Packed Week of Fun Activities at Lexis Noosa!

For our students, it’s important to unwind during a week of English learning and our activity programme is the best way to do so. Every week, we do activities together on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to showcase the best of what life in Noosa is like. Our activities range from arts and crafts to watersports and from karaoke to yoga, with a whole load of Aussie culture thrown in there too. Here’s a glimpse of what activities we got up to last week:

Wednesday’s Activity – Laguna Lookout Hike

On Wednesday, we left school and went on an expedition to Laguna Lookout, which is just a 30 minute walk from our campus. It was a real workout hiking up the steep road to reach the lookout but it’s always worth the effort to soak up the beautiful panoramic view of Noosa and enjoy the sunshine. It’s a great opportunity for the students to get their steps in, absorb the nature and relax their mind on the walk. It’s also an opportunity to meet other students from outside of their class and to practice their English speaking skills. It was a memorable afternoon and we’re already looking forward to our next trip up to Laguna Lookout.

Thursday’s Activity – Making Tie-Dye T-Shirts!

On Thursday we stayed at our Noosa campus got creative with a Tie Dye T-Shirt making activity. Tie Dye and surfer towns go hand in hand and it was a lot of fun to get to try to make our own T shirts. The students were able to let their creativity flow and create intricate patterns and designs. Each student got to make their own tie dye t shirt, which we left at school to dry overnight before the big reveal the following day. It was a colour explosion with all colours of the rainbow being splashed on the t shirts. Some students went traditional and tied their shirts, which created spiral patterns, others crafted designs such as hearts and flowers. It was a huge success and hopefully the students will enjoy wearing their new hand-made t shirts around Noosa.

Friday’s Activity – End of Term BBQ!

On Friday, to celebrate the end of term we headed to nearby Pinaroo Park for a whole school BBQ. We fried up hundreds of sausages and a huge pile of onions and the students enjoyed a good old fashioned sausage sizzle. We also strung up the volleyball net, set up some wickets, played giant Jenga, had a little football match and played a few games of pétanque. The sun was beaming down on us and the good times flowed. We gathered after lunch to celebrate those graduating and wished them well as they go onwards and upwards. It was the perfect way to bring in the weekend and one that will stick in the memory for years to come.
