Did you know, that today is the International Day of Families? In 1993, the United Nations proclaimed the 15th of May each year to be a day to recognize the importance of the international community. What an absolutely perfect day to welcome our 17 new international students to the Lexis Brisbane family!

We are so excited to have Mika (Japan), Javier (Columbia), Ayano (Japan), Luisa (Colombia), Misato (Japan), Burak (Turkey), Yurika (Japan), Gaeun (South Korea), Yajaira (Spain), Zekiye (Turkey), Nako (Japan), Monako (Japan), Daniela (Peru), Yesica (Colombia), Jiyeon (South Korea), Nomin (Mongolia), and Eunji (South Korea) join us!
Coming to an English school as an international student can indeed feel daunting and prove to be a challenging experience. However, taking that step is most certainly one of the bravest things to do. For non-native English speakers, studying English is often incredibly challenging, hence why doing so in a foreign country is exceptionally courageous. This is where the importance of family arises, particularly on a day like this.
Every student and member of staff are an integral part of the family that we have created here at Lexis Brisbane. Family and community play a crucial role in our lives, providing support, love, and a sense of belonging. Being part of a community helps shape our identity and provides a network of individuals who share similar backgrounds, experiences, and interests. Family is seen as a place where everyone belongs, a safe haven where individuals are accepted, valued, and loved for who they are. Regardless of differences in personalities, interests, or backgrounds, family provides a sense of belonging and identity. Here at Lexis Brisbane, the common goal is accomplishment, both academically and emotionally. We want to see all of our students accomplish their English goals whilst simultaneously accomplishing their social ones. The success of every student strengthens our family as it continues to grow.
To our brilliant new students, welcome to the family! We can’t wait to watch you grow and enjoy your time here. Remember that you have a big team of supporters at Lexis and never hesitate to reach out for help if you need it.
