Lexis Brisbane – Visiting Mt Coot-tha Lookout

Last Friday, after class, our Lexis students took a trip to one of Brisbane’s most scenic spots—Mt Coot-tha Lookout. The weather was perfect, giving everyone a clear, beautiful view of the city skyline, the winding Brisbane River, and the distant Moreton Bay. It was a fantastic way for students to see Brisbane from a new perspective! Whatsapp Image 2024 10 25 At 3.18.21 Pm 2

Mt Coot-tha Lookout holds a special place in Brisbane’s history. The name “Coot-tha” comes from the Indigenous word for “place of honey,” as local Indigenous people used to gather honey from the area’s wild bees. Today, it’s known as a popular lookout point offering panoramic views of the entire city and surrounding areas. Visitors can even spot landmarks like the Story Bridge, the City Botanic Gardens, and on a clear day, the distant Glass House Mountains.

This outing gave students a chance to relax, take photos, and learn more about Brisbane’s landscape and culture. It’s always exciting to share these unique parts of Australian history and scenery with our international students, who left with new memories and a deeper connection to the city.
